Once you find this cabin you are all set to enjoy the peace and quiet of the surroundings....my GPS insisted I turn onto a road which was not there......so got our the printed directions and was then fine in finding it. Be aware you are on gravel roads the last few miles.
The cabin is beautiful, the kitchen has great cookware and is really well equipped. There is no air conditioning but with the blinds pulled we remained cool. There is little traffic on the road in front of the cabin and there are neighbors across the road so even though you are remote with no cell service you know someone is close by.
We did the Cog railroad up Mt Washington which is less than an hour drive from the cabin. ...well worth the drive.
The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed the indoor and outdoor shower. Robin was easy to work with.....we did need to search for the lock box for awhile to try to get in so that could be better explained.....
All in all this is a lovely rental and we would recommend it for anyone desiring quiet and privacy.
Our only drawback was needing to dispose of our own trash. We cook a lot and having smelly trash for a week in the heat was not pleasant....keeping it in the car to avoid bears was not an option in the heat. Driving it to Woodstock with the approved card on check out would have meant returning back to the cabin with the approval card which didn't make sense either. This was our only negative and was minor but others should be aware when renting you MUST dispose of your own trash.
Thanks Robin and MaryAnn for sharing your piece of New Hampshire
We had a wonderful, adventurous family vacation week at River Ridge! We brought our two young adult children, and there was plenty of room for the four of us in this beautiful cabin. It is well stocked and every detail is clean, convenient, and upscale. The town of Bath provides a perfect starting point for adventures throughout the White Mountain Region. We traveled to the Flume Gorge, hiked at Mt Washington and the "Presidentials", visited North Conway, walked to Bridal Veil Falls, and rode down to the Lakes Region to see the "On Golden Pond" region and enjoy the views and the quaint villages. We particularly loved the trek along the Kancamagus Highway, which provided us with some short hikes to waterfalls and along rocky rivers, some gorgeous scenic views, and wildlife sightings galore! We saw a black bear and three moose, among others. River Ridge Cabin is positioned along the Wild Ammonoosuc River, and we loved spending the evenings down by the river watching the sunset. The porch is beautiful and the outdoor shower is great - private and peaceful. This getaway would be beautiful in any season! The owner is thorough and responsive. It was a perfect vacation. We hope to visit again. Thank you!!
What a fantastic and pretty log cabin! When we arrived we were charmed by this wonderful lodge. It is warm, definitively cosy and very, very comfortable. It has everything to make your stay a fantastic one. It is so well equipped and beautifully decorated. The river running at the bottom of the property is amazing. It is a perfect place to visit the White mountains as well as all the lovely villages in Vermont. It is easy access to Stowe and nearby Ben & Jerry, Woodstock and as far as Burlington. Also the lake regions in New Hampshire are a must to see. The nearest town of Woodville has everything you need. You must not miss the Brick General Store in Bath. We were there in the fall and the foliage was breathtaking. It is a perfect place for a vacation.
Words can't even describe our stay. First off it was for our honeymoon. We started looking 6 months out for a cabin in the woods in te mountains. Either out in Colorado or New England. I was born in New Hampshire and love the white mountains. After researching and going back and forth with the owner we were able to get out dates set, at a great price for what there is. Arrived late at night in the dark, thankfully had a good GPS and the directions from the owner otherwise wouldn't of found it. Once there absolutely amazing. Clean, everything you could need, the sound of the river flowing, the whole decor, everything was great. The gas wood stove, kept the cabin so warm and cozy. the area is great close to Vermont, Lincoln nh, mt. Washington, lakes region, etc. Definitely loved it and definitely want to go back sometime. Excellent experience with both the cabin and dealing with the owners. Recommend this to everyone!!!
4 Brits looking for the real New England and, boy, did we find it - a FAB place to stay. A wonderful lodge with everything you could want - it is isolated, warm, cosy and comfortable but all set in the wonderful colours of NH. We couldn't have asked for more. Nearby Bath was a delightful surprise, especially the covered bridges, the Brick Store and At The Hop. Anyone who likes Rock Music will do as we did - find reasons to hike in the local area just so you can finish with ice cream and rock music At The Hop! We even saw Moose & Racoon but you have to be out after dark for them. Many thanks and while it's a long way from UK we will try and come back. TC
For years we have wanted to stay in a log cabin, and we are so happy we decided to stay at the River Ridge cabin. The cabin and property are gorgeous; the profile pictures do not do them justice. Inside, the cabin is beautiful, immaculate, and fully equipped with a modern kitchen, TV, WiFi, etc. Sitting on the porch, sipping on a drink, looking out into the forest, listening to the river below-it was like a fairy tale. The location is great to see foliage in the White Mountains and many other activities are nearby; we went hiking in Franconia Notch State Park, biking, and apple/berry picking. Driving through the local small towns with their covered bridges, general stores, and farmhouses was a pleasure onto itself. All in all we had a great time and would definitely recommend the cabin-especially if you want the "real" log cabin experience without having to give up the modern conveniences of home.
