This is nice place with a good location , walk to every where , perfect for two , Bianca was great , very friendly and helpful.
We had a terrific stay and will surely go back again to the Retreat. They provide all you need for beach fun: chairs, umbrellas, beach toys. They also provide weights and yoga mats. Inside, all the comforts of home are provided. There is a bath and a half which comes in handy. The reason I gave four stars instead of five is that the view of the sea is somewhat obstructed as you look west. You can see the ocean over the house if front of you though. Also, there is a great view to the south of both the beach and water. The staff is was very hospitable. The property's location is such that within a short walk, all you need is nearby. We didn't have to use our car once. Great time!!!
The Retreat is the best. The facilities are great. Extemely comfortable and well maintained. Bianca is a incredible host. She goes the extra mile to ensure you have everything you need.
My wife and I come to Laguna Beach all the time. We have family there. But we wanted our own space. This was our first experience at The Retreat and we were very pleased with not only it's awesome location , ocean views , walking distance to town . The unit was clean and cool( a/c) and it was hot in Laguna while we were there. It was a nice place to retreat to after been in the sun . The unit is so quiet! Very comfortable , we would definitely return !
This was our 2nd time staying at The Retreat. Both times, we were with our two kids (now 9 and 11) and this last time we brought our mini-schnauzer with us. Needless to say, both times were amazing! The place is super chill and has been access down to the beach literally about 30 steps away. The views of the ocean and downtown Laguna are spectacular both from the balcony and rooftop deck. Although the units are small for a party of 4, the unit we rented had a pull out couch and Bianca was nice enough to make a surprisingly comfortable blowup mattress available for our 9 year old. Although the place is small, it is extremely cozy. It even has a fireplace (although we didn't use it during our visit in August). On this point, I should note that the A/C and ceiling fans work like a dream and the place was plenty cool, despite the relatively hot temps in Aug.
The kitchen is extremely functional with pretty much everything you could need for cooking. It is also has a large sink, a dishwasher, a large microwave and large oven. Although there are lots of great restaurants in town, because the weather was so spectacular this last trip and we had our dog with us, we decided to take full advantage of the largely unused rooftop deck with 180 degree panoramic views by staying in to watch sunset every night. At night, we grilled out on the deck (grocery store is literally 100 yards away or less) most nights and the other nights ordered from Door Dash (PIzzabar was amazing!) who brought everything right to our door.
The place we rented has a full and a half bath. Shower is amazing! And they have a hot outdoor shower for when you come up from the beach and you and all your stuff are full on sand. The bed in our unit was pretty comfortable (even if a little creaky when you move around at night) and the pull out couch in the living room is beginning to look a bit dated. However, none of those things adversely impacted our trip. In fact, because we live only an hour a way and this is one of the few places in Laguna with a full kitchen and bbq where you can stay right on the water and bring your dog, we are actually planning to come more often now -- almost treating it like a timeshare. Part of what makes this place so easy is that they also have 2 washer/dryers available to customers.
Finally, the hospitality was once again amazing!! Both times, Bianca and the cleaning staff were always extremely helpful and accommodating which made a great stay AMAZING!
We selected the Da Vinci Villa for a special romantic stay which included a marriage proposal (and acceptance!). We couldn't have been more pleased with the quality, comfort, convenience and beauty of this property. You can spend more at some of the full service resorts, and you can certainly spend less at some lesser hotel-type properties. But this was perfect for us - beautiful ocean views, immediate beach access, great beach chairs/equipment to use, beach towels/bag provided, all linens/towels/basic toiletries provided, easy walk to all shops, restaurants, parks, etc. We never moved our car once during our stay, and the free parking is a nice bonus. Bianca helped with important romantic details (flowers, ring delivery, etc) and Jason made the booking easy. Highly recommended property - do note, however, that of the 8 villas, maybe 4-5 have a private ocean-front balcony which is nice. But the shared-use balcony gives you even better views as it is higher up and larger, so not a big deal overall. Other area recommendations: spa day at Montage resort, tide pools at Heisler Park, happy hour at Tommy Bahama's, short drive up to "Top of the World" at Alta Laguna Park, walk up and down PCH to check out the various different beaches/coves, lunch at The Cliff, breakfast at Orange Inn right around the corner from The Retreat, Skyloft for a drink or meal. Can't wait to return!
