Nice place with high ceilings, good sized kitchen and lots of light on cul-de-sac. Quiet, despite the freeway being close.
Located in a quiet cul-de-sac off a busy thoroughfare, this second-floor walk up apartment is spacious and well-appointed. It's close to both the I-10 and 405. For a small extra fee, a garage is available, yet on-street parking is easy as well. The owner solves problems quickly. When the battery in the electronic lock was failing, she immediately got me a spare key, so I was not delayed. The area is mostly residential, so there are grocery stores, pharmacies and a real old-style newsstand...all in walking distance. The place was clean and kept up. I would recommend this place to others and will likely stay here again, since it's close to Westwood and a good value.
I did not get a chance to send the pictures to the owner of this property (or speak to her). But I received this a request to rate the property. So I will explain my experience now. Hopefully the owner will do something about the issues. In all fairness I will say up front there was a note card left to call with any issues at check in. But we were only there for 2 nights with a busy schedule. So I just left checked in and then left without complaint (due to extensive issues). First the easy stuff..... The floor was very dirty with tons of debris all over it. Thank God I brought socks. The cabinets in the bathroom are filthy! There is a layer of dirt and things people have spilled down them for a very very long time. As one review said (I think more than a year ago) the walls are in serious need of paint. The walls are very dirty. Not to mention mismatched paint from ceiling and wall repairs, ect. And I do not mean just slightly off matching. The baseboards are also a mess. Even the 2 sit up plastic chairs at the kitchen had something all over them. The couch needed to be vacuumed. I have never been in such a dirty vacation rental. And I have rented many properties without issue. The living room had water damage to ceiling & baseboard by the dining room. Above the couch were also several large water stains. But this wasn't my biggest issue. My biggest issue is the bathroom. Along the edges of floor is absolutely disgusting with caked on dirt & water damage, there was mold on the shower door, mold on top of the corners of the shower. a pretty rusted medicine cabinet, plus the filthy cabinets I previously mentioned. But the worst part is a extremely serious mold issue on the entire ceiling. So bad it is coming through several layers of paint! I am talking the entire ceiling. You can see large areas of water damage. It has been going on a long time. You can see someone has been recovering it by the massive layers of thick paint. Which is also peeling. I can't explain how bad it is. Or the health risk this can cause anyone who stays here. I got out as fast as I could. And never stepped off the towel on the floor. It was so gross in that bathroom. You can see some effort was put into trying to make the place look nice. But the furniture is cheap, it is dirty, the place has serious problems, and the owner does not care about upkeep. Also the neighbors are keeping a pigeon coup. You get what you pay for. This was lipstick on a pig. Beware!
My family of 2 stayed here for 7 nights while visiting family and friends in Los Angeles, CA.
Having previously lived in a nearby city and familiar with the area of the rental, we were happy to have found this West LA Condo for our stay. The apartment is conveniently located close to public transit, including the Culver City Green Line #6 and Santa Monica Big Blue Bus 8 & 12 lines as well as the 405 and the 10 Freeway. Additionally, the apartment is close to several grocery stores (Vons, Trader Joe's, Ralphs, CVS) as well as mini shopping centers.
The apartment was clean and well maintained. The Living Room and Bedroom are nicely sized to accommodate the needs of 2 people. The kitchen is full sized and comparable to most 1-bedroom apartments in the area. The bathroom which is inside the bedroom, is fine as well. The unit & building is quiet with no noise from the freeways, neighbors, nor nearby streets. While street parking is usually a pain in Los Angeles in general, we never had any problems finding parking on the same street of the building location. For those interested in securing parking, Kathryn offers to rent out the garage as well.
Communication with Kathryn and Lisa, Kathryn's assistant was quick & informative to ensure booking would go smoothly.

It was everything that was advertised. Kathryn and her assistant provided excellent service and took care of our needs in a punctual manner.
We stayed here a month and enjoyed the entire stay. All the appliances, central air and heat, television, hot water, and internet worked great.
The only negative and the reason I did not give our stay 5 stars was because the unit was in need of some care and upkeep. Namely the unit needed some drywall repair in the kitchen where there had been some water damage in the ceiling and painting throughout would really help along with a new exhaust fan to replace the old one in the bathroom . I did see the other 2BR unit on the first floor in the same building that this landlord rents as well, and it was in perfect shape and looked great. I can only assume they will do these minor upgrades to this unit soon as well. But overall however I would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a good bargain, with a great landlord, and terrific location.
I also want to say for anyone concerned with the close proximity to the 405 and 10 freeways, you should really not worry. It is actually a quiet unit with no noise from the freeways, neighbors, nor nearby streets. Your convenience in traveling to and from your unit with the well known heavy LA traffic is the biggest gift you will get with this great property. Street parking was just fine as well. You will be hard pressed to find other units nearby that have these added benefits. We will rent this unit again when we return next year
I was visiting UCLA for two weeks without a car. For my needs, this apartment was considerably more affordable than any hotel in the UCLA area, had convenient grocery store access within walking distance, and was equally close to public transit options to get to Santa Monica, UCLA, downtown LA, and other points around town. The apartment is fairly spacious for a one-bedroom unit and the kitchen was well appointed. Kathryn was responsive to a minor toilet repair the first day. I would stay here again.
