This was exactly what we want from a holiday.
We have rented many holiday homes on the West Coast over the past few years and amongst our requirements are, open or log burning fire , near water and views, the Bubble met all of these.
The lodge was comfortable ,and very well equipped (slept like a log).
Found the hidden treasure, but won't say what it was.
The nearby shop and post office were very convenient but I would recommend taking plenty of supplies with you if you don't want to do much driving.
The bar/restaurant is a vey pleasant place for a drink or meal and is run by volunteers for the community.
Everyone we met was extremely friendly and pleasant.
Unfortunately I broke my ankle a couple of weeks beforehand so my mobility was impaired and could not take advantage of the fishing.
Nicky describes The Bubble exactly as it is and we were not disappointed.
It is somewhere we would definately return to.
We booked 'The Bubble' for our 25th wedding anniversary after searching the net a few months ago .We certainly wasn't disappointed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.Hear is our review :
We flew into Glasgow from stansted and hired a car from the airport which we find is much easier than a 12 hour drive from Essex. We put the post code into the satnav and the drive there was lovely. It took about 2 and half hours with the last 14 miles being a single track road but great fun to dive along with magnificent views at every turn and plenty of places to stop to let oncoming traffic pass. The Bubble is in -we think one of the best spots on the park as the views from every window really were quite wonderful. Its only about 25 miles from Oban which is well worth a visit.
The cabin has a very relaxed feel about it ,We quickly felt at home and had a lovely surprise left for us from Nicky the owner which was much appreciated,I haven't met him but it is clear from his texts/emails and the very funny advise sheet supplied that he has a great sense of humour. We cooked a nice steak the first night(apologies to the next guests if it now stinks of garlic!)and found the kitchen quite adequate to cook most meals in.In the evenings we loved just relaxing and listening to some of Nicks music collection which was great. There are TV's in all the rooms and plenty of heaters if needed. We found the shower perfectly adequate for us.There are 3 bedrooms in total a double room and a bunk bed room downstairs with a large double upstairs .If like us you like the Internet then there is good connection with the wi fi so we were able to google different things etc and keep logged into facebook!I thinks Nicky has previously commented himself on this but if you want 5* accommodation with lots of luxury then this probably isn't the place BUT its in a remote part of Scotland with a very cosy feel about it,its something different and WE loved it.
Food/ Eating out
We knew it was in a remote location so stopped off at a morrisons near the airport to take some food and drink with us,There is a small shop near the cabin but we didn't need to use it.We went for a meal in the Taynuilt Hotel for our anniversary meal which was really good (not cheap, but quality food).Mostly we were quite happy to cook in The Bubble and just relax by ourselves.
We would defiantly like to return at some point in the future and recommend it for those just wanting to unwind and get away from it all.
"The bubble" is a simple, but really charming accomodation surrounded by a wonderful landscape. We enjoyed the pure nature mixed with sightseeing in the nearby places.
The bubble's kitchen is simply outfitted, but with a really nice oven combined with a microwave and a dishwasher. A fireplace and nice furnishing provides a cosy atmosphere in the evenings, but the mouse visiting us, was not very hearty welcomed by us.
The dalavich social club offered delicous dinner and also the cafe/supermarket in Dalavich has everything you need with very kind people working there.
We looked forward to our lakeside break, and the lake didn't disappoint, being just metres from the cabin. Sadly the cabin was not quite what we had hoped for. While others describe it as quirky, we'd suggest it was compact, with every nook and cranny filled with things. It sleeps six, but there is only seating on a single sofa for two, plus a large bean bag.
The layout of the cabin is great, with a deck, large picture windows to view the lake, and the unusual upstairs bedroom. Sadly it seems tired, needing refreshed with a lick of paint, maybe some new kitchenware and linen, and a deep clean and declutter.
The upstairs bedroom is accessed via a steep ladder / stairway and not recommended for small children, or if you are unsteady. The bed is right next to the hatch, so we recommend closing the hatch at night to avoid a rapid decent!
We were advised that the microwave didn't work, which was OK as we adjusted our meal plans accordingly. However we were not advised that the shower barely offered a trickle and with no other means of bathing it was less than ideal.
The cabin is in a nice remote location, ideal if you want a retreat. We didn't see any squirrels, but once we put fresh bird food out there were plenty of birds to watch.
Plan your day trips as you'll need to travel at least half an hour in any direction on single track roads to reach a decent road. We hoped to visit the local restaurant but it only opens Thursday to weekend, no use for our short break.
The local shop shuts at 4pm daily, and is not open on a Tuesday. It is a nice little shop though, with ice cream and fresh cakes available.
Overall we were underwhelmed. We expected five stars but were left disappointed.
We had a fantastic weekend at the Bubble. The chalet itself is entirely charming with everything you could want, and more. Lots of thoughtful touches, including a treasure hunt, of sorts, which led to a disproportionate amount of excitement when we found the treasure. The setting is idyllic with the edge of Loch Awe a few steps away. Barbeque, hi-fi to plug your music into, tellies in two of the bedrooms, selection of books and board games. We were there with our three year old son who had a great time, and particularly enjoyed making friends with the resident tiger. For a truly relaxing break, though, leave the toddlers at home.
Rustic little but n ben in a beautiful location, the last 2 hours of the drive from Edinburgh was worth it alone. Amazing scenery that makes one wonder why there is any need to ever leave Scotland!
The accommodation is in a quiet little area with stunning views. There is a handy little bar on site which serves good food and the staff are very hospitable.
We didn't have children with us and to my pleasure it wasn't too kids orientated, like other similar places I have been in recent weeks. There are facilities for children however.
A real get away location, a gem of a place.
Um chalé estilo orla suíça, perto da remota aldeia de Dalavich nas margens do Loch Awe.
Há castelos e pesca, é uma experiência de férias escocês.

People in unfamiliar environments break and damage things like dinner plates and kitchen countertops, as such i try and persuade my guests to take my accidental damage insurance costing £14 , this is a less hassle and much better option than asking for £hundreds in security deposits.
