Ski weekend

We all really had a great time. The home is beautiful and just perfect... Peter clearly had family and functionality in mind when he made the upgrades.

We see why you enjoy it so much, the location was perfect, and property is beautiful.

Great Family Getaway

Peter is the type of guy you want to rent from. Thorough, attentive, and friendly, he has a cozy home which he takes care of with detail. He very honestly portrays his home here and as he stated many times in our communications, he wants you to have a good time.

The house is close to the Stratton access road, and has a new market and a coffee shop in walking distance. There is a spacious kitchen, and the living room has a fantastic wood burning stove with a shed full of dry wood ready for fires.

For those not skiing, our party had some lovely walks on the quiet road and the house sits next to a peaceful brook with a small covered hut. Peter provided many great recommendations for the area's shops, attractions, and restaurants. And we had some unforgettable meals, especially the one at SoLo Farm & Table.

Highly recommended for families and large groups.

Comfortable and spacious home on gorgeous property

We had a wonderful week at this beautiful and charming Vermont farmhouse situated on an amazing property. The kids had a wonderful time playing in the onsite pond and spacious yard. Situated near the scenic Winhall River, there were beautiful places to walk right outside the door and lots of fun attractions nearby. The house was very comfortable for our group of four families, and the owners were very helpful and accommodating. Many people in the group have already said they want to return here for our next gathering.

Beautiful and Comfortable Farmhouse

This is a beautifully renovated farmhouse minutes from the base of Stratton Mountain. We stayed with our extended family including our young grandchildren. There was plenty of room for everyone, including an awesome kids room located on the 3rd floor. Bathrooms and kitchen were updated and spotlessly clean. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals and was spacious enough that several of us could be cooking without feeling crowded. The owner was highly responsive to our needs and provided us with extensive information for any issue that might arise. It was certainly a wonderful home for our big family.

Nice vacation spoiled by owner's control issues

First the positives: the house was clean and well kept. The kitchen was well equipped. The location was close to the ski area as advertised.

The negatives:

1.The owner fails to disclaim that two bedrooms on the second floor share a bathroom with doors leading to each bathroom that don't lock; so if you are not with family, using that bathroom is tricky and cumbersome.

2. The owner, Peter, is a control-freak. After sending a dozen pages of instructions he insisted on everything in the house to be left the way we found it (including the input on his TV); which is impossible when 4 families with children are using the house for 5 days. So instead of enjoying our vacation some of us had to worry about memorizing his house rule-book.

3. The owner failed to inspect the house after the people who were there before us during Christmas and accused us of breaking things in a very harsh and impolite manner. Moreover, a day later he admitted that nothing major was broken anyway, but never apologized for the harsh accusations. The things he imputed to us were minor things anyway, which even if were broken, a normal owner would have just fixed them himself without complaining after charging 6k for 5 days (i.e. the switch on the electric panel, the screen on a window; and switching cables on his TV).

4. The view, the property is very close to some construction/transportation businesses and in the winter the view to one side of the house is to a junkyard.

In conclusion, a nice house, but would never vacation there again because of the owner. I would not recommend this house to anyone.

Resposta do proprietário: The writer fails to mention that a storm knocked out the electric power to the house and surrounding area on Saturday night. My caretaker came to the house at 11 PM and set up the generator, so that our guests would not be in any discomfort. The writer also fails to mention that the frame of one sofa bed was broken during their stay. The person on the lease agreed to pay for the repairs. The group left us a lovely note signed by all persons staying in the house, thanking us for the good time they had. The bathroom on the left side of the second floor is described as having a "Jack and Jill" configuration between the bedrooms. Both access doors lock from the inside. It would be pointless to debate many of the other claims because they are plain wrong. This review was submitted more than three weeks after the group left. It is not written by the person, with whom I closely dealt and signed the lease. We have never had a complaint from any group before this.
