Fantastic Rental

We have been to Seborga before and wanted a place with a view of the Principality and the Mediterranean--that's exactly what we got. It is hard to describe how beautiful this property is. At night one can sit on the balcony and look straight down to the glittering lights of Monaco. At dawn you can watch those same lights fade and the beauty of the Riviera and the Med come into full view. The owners of the property are wonderful. They checked on us throughout the week to make sure we had everything we needed (which we did) and wouldn't even let us take the trash with us when we left. The apartment is spacious and comfortable and a short, easy walk to the restaurants and other delights of Seborga.

Relaxed and a lovely view

The house is spacious and clean, the view over the area very nice. It is situated in a quiet area, and you can walk to the tiny, sleepy village of Seborga in 4 minutes - and find 2 restaurants and a small grocer shop. Very handy :)

As the house is 500-600 meters above sealevel, nights a not too hot.

The kitchen is better equipped than most we have been to before. Also always enough towels and bedsheets.

We had to ask for the pool to be cleaned and the filter to be put on - as it is surrounded by plants (which is lovely) the are many bits and little creatures in the pool, if not maintained.

Sabina the host, is helpfull when asked, and we were lucky to enjoy crops from her garden - tasty tomatoes and courgettes!

The hosts live in the lover part of the house, and their dog are unfortunately very noisy far too early in the morning (around 4-,5 o´clock) which ruined our sleep. Not so great. When we mentioned it it became less, but still continued.

Upon arrival (we were late due to traffic) the host´s adult son welcomed us. Very friendly, - however, we did not have the "proper introduction" byt the owner, until after a week - information about the area, and on available maps and recommendations - which would have made a great difference, on our stay.

F.Y.I: If you like to dine outside, the terrace facing the sea it quite narrow, but just OK for 4 persons. Facing south west, is also very hot until after 8pm, and the "breakfast" terrace does not have sun, until after 9.30, leaving it somewhat cold in the morning. But - all in all - a fine accommodation.

Wohnung an toller Aussichtslage in schöner Gartenanlage

Wir haben mit vier Kindern, d.h. zu sechst, eine Woche in dieser Wohnung verbracht. Der Buchungsprozess und die Kommunikation im Vorfeld mit den Eigentümern, die im selben Haus wohnen, war unkompliziert und schnell.

Die Wohnung befindet sich an einer wunderschönen Aussichtslage – man sieht von der Terrasse und vom Pool aus auf das malerische Dörfchen Seborga und auf das dahinterliegende Meer. Die kurvige Fahrt an die Küste (Bordighera) ist etwa 10 km lang.

Als wir in der Wohnung ankamen, waren wir überrascht über das Raumangebot der (Schlaf-)Zimmer: Sie befinden sich beide unter dem Dach, das heisst mit starker Einschränkung durch die Dachschräge. In einem Zimmer, in dem alle vier Kinder schliefen, war ein aufrechtes Gehen nur gerade in der Mitte, entlang des Dachfirsts, möglich – überall sonst musste man sich gebückt hinbewegen. Dieses Zimmer hat kein Fenster in der Mauer, sondern nur ein kleines Dachfenster. Es wird deshalb sehr heiss darin. Zwar sind elektrische Lüfter vorhanden, die aber die Luft nur bewegen, nicht kühlen. Von diesem Zimmer gibt es keine Fotos auf der Webseite der Wohnung, weshalb wir im Vorfeld um einen Grundrissplan der Wohnung gebeten hatten, ein solcher aber nicht zur Verfügung gestellt werden konnte.

Das zweite Schlafzimmer unter dem Dach hat zusätzlich zum Dachfenster eines in der Mauer, und die Höhe ist bis ca. in der Mitte des Zimmers so, dass man aufrecht gehen kann. Durch die beiden Fenster ist es möglich, Durchzug zu machen, so dass es weniger heiss wird.

Ebenfalls im Dachgeschoss befindet sich ein zweites Bad, welches auch stark abgeschrägt ist. Es fehlt der Wasseranschluss in der Dusche, so dass nur das Waschbecken und die Toilette benutzt werden können.

Die Ausstattung der Wohnung ist generell von nicht sehr hoher Qualität – der Salontisch wackelt, Schränke und Vitrinen wirken billig. Es hat keine Geschirrspülmaschine (ist allerdings im Beschrieb auch nicht erwähnt – wir ginge aufgrund der bisherigen Erfahrungen mit Wohnungen dieser Grössenordnung «automatisch» davon aus, dass es eine hat). Mehrere Einrichtungen waren defekt: Ein abgebrochener Griff an einer Küchenschublade, die Kaffee-Maschine war undicht wie auch die Toilette im Bad des unteren Geschosses, welche immer einen See von Wasser um sich herum produzierte, was sehr unangenehm war.

Insgesamt waren wir etwas enttäuscht über die «inneren Qualitäten» der Wohnung.

Die Aussicht und der Garten hingegen haben einen ganz anderen Eindruck gemacht

Resposta do proprietário: Thank you for your review on the property and we are sorry that you were somewhat disappointed with the living accommodation. The photographs and description of the apartment shown on the Homeaway website is a true likeness of the apartment. We apolagise for the broken handle on the draw but with weekly rentals there is occasionally some damage and unfortunately a matching handle was not available but had to be ordered, however this has arrived and has been installed. There are also a total of three coffee machines in the apartment. Since your review all three machines have been checked and are working fine which leads me to believe it was the problem of not being familiar with the machine as different machines require different capsules. As for the leaking toilet for your own peace of mind the leak was from the water cistern and not from the waste water side this however took some 15 minutes to repair and if I had been informed of the problem, the problem would have been resolved immediately. As for the upstairs shower there is no problem with the water supply, there simply is no shower as is stated on the website there are 2 wash rooms, one with shower, toilet and bidet. and the other with toilet. I was somewhat surprised to see some of the negative remarks on this review as on a number of occasions we inquired as to whether there were any problems with the apartment and the response was always everything was fine. As for the ambient temperature, this has been a somewhat abnormally hot dry year and night time temperatures a normally some what cooler. Air conditioning the apartment is an option but would result in a far higher rental rate. There are a number of air conditioned luxury villas/apartments in the area but the rental rates are far more expensive and often require a substantial retainer for any damages so at the end of the day it comes down to your personal requirements and budget. As we do not actually live in the apartment we rely on the client for feed back and attempt to rectify any problems as quickly as possible to ensure their stay here is as pleasant and problem free as possible. Once again we thank you for your review and apolagise that the accommodation was not up to your expectations but we are pleased that you enjoyed the gardens and views. Both criticism and praise are good as criticism allows us to re-evaluate and improve where possible and praise always puts a smile on our faces and makes it all seem worth while.

A calm relaxed comfortable retreat

We spent two relaxing weeks in Seborga and enjoyed every minute. The views from the apartment are fantastic, both day and night. The accommodation was clean , comfortable and well equipped with a spiral staircase up to the bedrooms. We loved the poolside area and the landscaped terraced gardens, the pool was refreshing and big enough for a swim.

The village has plenty of restaurants to suit all budgets and if you are lucky enough to be there when they have a Festa you must go and eat with the locals. Sabina was an excellent host and guide, we discovered points of interest and places to park which we wouldn't have found ourselves. There are some beautiful hill top villages to discover in the surrounding area and we made the most of our nippy little Twingo which is a must for the winding, narrow roads . It easily took our 2 walk on cases, a massive holdall and 3 people plus shopping which you should do in bulk when in Ventimiglia. Use the toll roads for trips, you can be in France in 30 minutes, Monte Carlo in 25 as the local roads are very busy in the summer months, great to meander along when you are in the mood but not when you have a destination in mind. We would definitely recommend this property to others. Lisa , Nick and George (aged 10).

A liitle bit of paradise in Italy

This summer my husband and two boys enjoyed two wonderful weeks in Seborga. It was great to be back in this gorgeous place and it was even more beautiful than we remembered. Sabina brought us lovely goodies from the garden and the weather could not have been better. If you are looking for a relaxing, well situated, friendly place to spend your holiday then look no further!

Absolutely wonderful

My husband, 2 young adult children and I are just back from the most perfect holiday. As stated in other reviews the pictures of the property do not do it justice. It is beautifully clean, well cared for and well equipped. The private pool/bar area is gorgeous and you could quite happily spend your entire holiday without leaving it. The location is idyllic, perched on a hill with a panoramic view of the Med as a backdrop to the hills in the foreground. The village is a stroll away and offers some choice for eating out otherwise there are plenty of restaurants in nearby Bordighera. A car is a must.

Our host and hostess live at the property and were so welcoming and hospitable it was like visiting friends ( friends who grow cherries and are generous enough to share!!)

Thank you Sabina and Rocky for a wonderful and very memorable holiday. We'll be back.
