This bungalow was everything we read about and more. We had a wonderful time and John was great in responding to our questions and when we had an issue with the tv he was there right away to help (minor issue just had to reset the box - would've done it but not being our house felt it better to call )
The location was just where we wanted to be, directly next door to the Hollywood Bowl, a short walk downtown to Hollywood Blvd, and easy access to the highways.
The house was spotless and very comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked with everything, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was well stocked with towels.
We totally enjoyed sitting on the deck in the morning sipping our coffee while watching the hummingbirds flutter around and listening to the water fountain in the garden. It was easy to want to stay there all day !
The stairs were a challenge the first day after spending the day traveling but they did get easier, truly a Hollywood Hills experience.
This was our first trip to LA and we will be back, and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else !! Thanks again John.
We really enjoyed staying at this property on a recent visit to LA to visit our son. The apartment is well equipped with beautiful furnishings. There are three outdoor areas and amazing views of the Hollywood Hills. The location is perfect, right next door to the Hollywood Bowl, walking distance to Walk of Fame, a ten minute drive to Universal and close to the 101 Freeway. As mentioned in other reviews, there are a lot of stairs, but it's well worth the climb. We've stayed in a lot of VRBO/Home Away rental properties and John is the most communicative and responsive owner we have encountered. We highly recommend this property and would definitely stay there again.
The house was extremely close to the Hollywood Bowl--right down the stairs and to the left. Amazing how close it was! The terraces were absolutely a private retreat. We were able to sit and relax to the sounds of the waterfall and watch a near full moon rise right over the hills of Hollywood as we lay back in the chaise lounges. The views were spectacular and well worth the exhausting climbs, which do get a bit easier after a few trips. We spent most of our time on one of the three outdoor living areas. The deck off the living room was sweet to eat, drink, and chill while taking in the views of palms and terra cotta rooftops to the left and the lights and sounds of Hollywood to the right.
Although we did not meet John until we were departing, he was always responsive and helpful via phone or text. The house itself was well appointed with the necessities for cooking, imbibing, and relaxing. The many candles throughout the house were a nice touch. The bed was very comfortable with nice linens and pillows and we slept quite well with a cool breeze blowing through the windows.
If you stay here, be sure to check out some of the following that we experienced: Ralphs for your groceries and beverages (they have beer/wine/liquor), The Griddle for one of the best breakfasts anywhere (you will be awed by the size of the pancakes, but expect a wait of 20-30 minutes), Pinks Hotdogs for late night grub, El Matador State Park for a sunset over the Pacific (right up the Pacific Coast Hwy) after a scenic and picturesque drive through Topanga Canyon, and of course the Hollywood Bowl (it could not be more convenient)!
We are not huge fans of the "Rich and Famous," but there are many attractions to suit the wishes of anyone traveling to this famous area. I highly recommend staying in this bungalow if you have the chance.
My wife and I loved staying at this house for about a week while visiting LA and Hollywood. The house is lovely, comfortable, well equipped, and has gorgeous views of Hollywood and LA beyond. The immediate neighborhood is very charming, historic and just cool. The owner is great ... very helpful, went above and beyond to take care of things. The short walk in from parking lot is more than worth it ... sense of privacy and "tree-house setting" are the rewards. We would happily stay there again ... a perfect situation.
The directions to the home that are provided could be improved and the many stairs may be an issue for older or physically challenged people but the reward is worth it. Luxurious indoor and outdoor space with absolutely everything one could ask for. A perfect place for a couple. The home is in an excellent location, private but also close enough to the freeway to get anywhere fast. The internet was intermittent but being fixed as we left.
I was looking for a unique accommodation for my 50th Birthday trip down to Hollywood, and this unit delivered! You will get your workout climbing to it via many stairs (be advised if your disabled or a out of physical shape)... but the climb is well worth it. A multi-level patio-deck system awaits you with garden views or views of the Hollywood hills! The unit is clean and the décor imaginative and interesting, well done. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub with a 270 degree view most of which is of Hollywood Hills and the valley. The kitchen is well stocked with pans and utensils, and boasts modern appliances with granite counter tops, very nice we made several meals and enjoyed them on the view deck. The bedroom has a comfy bed, and more views! Parking can be a challenge if you have a full size car or larger, it wont fit in the 1 car garage supplied. If this is the case you will need to use crowded visitor parking or find parking outside the complex. Smaller cars will fit in the garage. John was great and made things easy from start to finish. Residing here for our four night stay made us feel like movie stars enjoying the life of luxury. A super cool place to stay, way better than a hotel!! We cant wait to return!!
