Although the house and position was fantastic and suited our needs and we expressed such in the visitors book our experience turned sour when the manager docked us money from our deposit claiming that we had left furniture out of place. As we had moved the furniture very little and had restored the furniture from where it had been moved from we asked the manager for more details and we were told about some items of furniture that were not exactly in the place that the manager claimed and we realised that what was being claimed were movements in cms but metres. The manager must have taken a photo of every room to be able to establish this as this was highly unreasonable we wondered at first that this was scam but then realised it was more likely to be due to offence taking to what we thought was a polite note left by us to let the manager know of some things that needed repair. These were a missing light bulb in the courtyard ( hence we had to use a portable light and move the alfresco dining table closer to the lounge room light), the anchor bolts in the main bathroom toilet had come loose in crumbling mortar, a cracked baking dish and the drier often didn’t heat up. We were not unhappy with these things, only by the way we were consequently treated even though we left the property clean and tidy as per house rules. D&L H
I am sorry you are unhappy with this decision, but as the manager and a very neutral judge in these matters, I find my decision very fair. After all, you were only charged a small excess cleaning fee of $15 for many things being moved around the house and then not returned. Mainly the outdoor dining table, which is an enormous, solid and very heavy structure, I would not have been able to move on my own. It was only very lucky that I was able to get someone to help me move it back into position. On a normal day cleaning there, I would have been unable to do so. There were also other things like lamps being moved around to different rooms and so fourth. The terms and conditions of the property, which you could find in the house information folder, state, if you move items of furniture, to please put them back as you found them and failure to do so could result in excess cleaning charges.
As for the outside light, I am sorry about that, the owner has informed me that they've had an electrician look at it but he was unable to figure out what was wrong. They are looking to rectify that in the future.
