Just 300 metres easy walk from the surf club at the family friendly, southern end of Avoca beach. It's a classic, old school Aussie beach house combining an arty touch of retro surf shack ambience with plenty of modern comforts and conveniences. It has lovely views from the huge entertainers deck. Perfect for families or groups of friends, we welcome a maximum group size of 6 adults or up to 9 guests if you include kids.
This is an older style, family beach house built in the 1960s - used by our own family as well. If you're used to "Vogue Living" style 5 star accommodation then our house probably isn't right for you. However, as you'll see from the photos it is very comfortable, up to date and well maintained with a large, sunny deck with beach views.
There are three bedrooms. Two are on the same level as the living areas, kitchen and deck. Bedroom one has a queen size bed. Bedroom two has a queen size bed with single on top. The third bedroom on the lower level has another queen bed plus one set of bunks. It is at ground level and is accessed externally by outside stairs. Main bathroom is upstairs, with adjoining laundry. Please see the floor plan in photos.
The externally accessed lower bedroom has a large, north facing window and is ideal for the older kids and teenagers or for an extra couple. There is an old style, unrenovated toilet and shower, also externally accessed downstairs. Perfect to wash the sand off upon your return from the beach!
There is an expansive, north facing, entertainer's balcony with dress circle and beach views, outdoor dining table and chairs for 8, a gas BBQ and a pair of reclining sun lounges. The kitchen has all the usual appliances including ceramic cooktop, a dishwasher and microwave. The inside dining table and chairs will seat 8+.
A new fridge, dishwasher and clothes dryer were all installed about 2 years ago - we aim to keep everything right up to date. Furthermore the house underwent a makeover around the same time with many new furnishings and homewares. There is wifi, reverse cycle air con, a flat screen TV, blu-ray/DVD player, plus a stereo. Unlike some properties, the house provides kitchen detergents etc plus complimentary guest toiletries on arrival.
The beach is an easy 3 minute walk through the park. There is limited parking on Avoca Drive available. No off street parking.
*Important note about LINEN.....
You will need to bring your own top and bottom sheets and pillow cases along with towels, bath mat and kitchen tea towels. We provide each bed with a doona and doona cover, pillows without pillow cases, plus quality mattress protectors. There is also an extra blanket for each bed.
There is a high chair suitable for a baby or toddler, but no cot.
* Please note that we try hard to keep the info we put on Stayz up to date, however the house is managed by a local agent; so for precise details on price, availability and minimum stay periods, please make an enquiry. Cheers! There is also a $30 booking fee.

Avoca Beach is well known as one of the finest beaches in NSW for a number of reasons.
The southern end in front of the surf club is extremely popular with families who have small children because of it's safe and protected rock pool area. This is the end nearest the house. The southern end is also the patrolled area with a magnificent stretch of beach for long summer days ducking in and out of the waves.
Avoca Beach also offers some of the best surfing around - it's not unusual to spot big name Aussie surf pros enjoying the famous point break when the NE swell rolls in. If you're not a surfer, just grab your camera, sit on the rocks and watch the action!
Avoca's rock platform is massive and stretches for half a kilometre. A hugely popular fishing spot it's also home to some of the most delightful rockpools you'll ever find - children are fascinated by this area.
Snorkelling at Avoca is highly recommended especially in and around the edges of the surf club end rock pool. SCUBA divers will want to dive the HMAS Adelaide wreck off Avoca Beach plus other top dive sites. Local operators run daily trips.
The lake at Avoca is 700m further up the beach. Stand up paddle boards, canoes and paddleboats can be hired here. Birdlife abounds and it's a must to explore. When conditions are right the lake also turns on brilliant fishing with bream that reach the elusive 1 kilo mark plus flathead, whiting, tailor and school jewfish. Beach and rock fishing are also very popular at Avoca.
Rockpool Cottage also sits right on the route of the famous "5 Lands Walk"; a moderate 9km trek between McMasters Beach and Terrigal Beach. It's also only a 15 minute drive to Bouddi National Park which offers superb coastal bushwalks including the magnificent Maitland Bay Track.
