My family and I had a wonderful stay at Kate's place. She sent exact directions to make sure we were easily able to find the house. The driveway was a little nerve-racking the first time we drove up (there are some steep spots!), but we quickly got used to it. The house has beautiful views of the mountains. Although we didn't get to see any bears, we saw deer, turkey, and bats on the property, and we could hear coyotes baying at night. The property is very quiet and peaceful, and the house had everything we needed. The beds and pillows were more comfortable than we expected. Everything was clean, well-organized, and orderly, and there was the perfect amount of space for 6 people and 2 dogs. You could certainly fit more people in the house, as there was a full bedroom that we didn't even use! We discovered that it took us about 40 minutes to get to Hot Springs and about 30 minutes to get to Asheville from the house. There are plenty of hikes and outdoor adventures to be found within an hour's drive. Specific hikes we enjoyed were Max Patch, Lover's Leap, the Laurel River Trail, and the Hard Times Loop Trail that leads up to the North Carolina Arboretum. What a gorgeous time of year to go! We found that Kate's house was the perfect getaway after a long day of hiking. The grocery store we used (per Kate's suggestion) was about 25 minutes away. When we visited Asheville, we went to the Grove Arcade and the surrounding area for shopping and lunch. About two hours after we checked out on our last morning, Kate emailed me to say she would be refunding my pet deposit, and she was prompt with answers to any questions I had before our trip began. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking to spend some time in the countryside with a mountain backdrop. We also got some fantastic views of the stars at night. Overall, very satisfied with our stay.
The house was super clean and up to date. It was surprisingly easy to get to but if you aren't used to country, mountain roads, make sure to take it low and slow. For a group of eight adults the house was absolutely perfect!! I would definitely come back!!
What you see on the PP site is what you get: a restful spot on a hillside overlooking beautiful mountains. Our visit was in the fall and the outdoor deck was still in play - it made for a great place to set up our telescope and stargaze. Everything was in place for a great stay - amenities, comforts, etc. It's definitely setup well for a family or even two small families. Beautiful countryside! If you want to get away and spend time together, it's a great place to do it!
We were two couples who stayed at Paradise Peaks. We really enjoyed our stay even though it was a little further out from Asheville, NC than we expected. But the setting was beautiful, overlooking a beautiful valley and mountain ridge, with deer and wild turkey routinely present.
We won the toss and got the first floor master suite. The house was very comfortable with two recliners and a couch that also reclined. The satellite TV gave us access to all that we needed including the NFL and SEC networks. We especially enjoyed the hand made TV stand in the living room. It became a topic of discussion several times. The deck was very nice and stretched the length of the house. Our two small pets enjoyed watching the deer from the deck and late at night out the front door when we went out for our last potty break of the day and on one occasion, were just 20 feet away from one younger deer staring at us.
Once we had our route in and out down pat via the dollar store, we were able to come and go with ease. We even drove right to the house the first time without too much difficulty and followed the final path right to the house. If you encounter any problems at all or have any questions, be sure to contact the owners immediately (Katie). She was very responsive and caring about our stay. The house was clean and the property well-maintained.
During our stay we traveled to the City of Ashville, Black Mountain, and the Biltmore Hotel. Each of these excursions were well worth it, including the winery at the Biltmore and super dog freindly town of Black Mountain, the shops there, and the Veranda Cafe which is also dog friendly.
If you're looking for an out-of-the-way place that's nonetheless close to Asheville and all the activities the area offers, this is the perfect location. Some great hikes and rafting are 20 to 30 minutes away. Add to that the incredible view, a comfortable and well-appointed home and, not least, a super-responsive and friendly owner, you can't go wrong staying here. We hope to get back again soon and would definitely recommend this vacation home to any of our friends planning a mountain excursion.
We just spent our 50th anniversary here and we HATED to leave!! Although it rained the entire time, it was the best vacation we ever had. The bad thing was,we only had one full day. (Even our yellow lab would not get into the car when it came time to go home!!) All my family wanted to stay , can't wait to go back!! The trip up to the house was not bad at all. The directions that was given to us to navigate around were right on the money!! Just can't wait to go back!! We saw turkey and deer! My husbands ancestors came from Marshall,NC. We went to visit the town and the lady at the Bowmans Hardware was the highlight!! It you ever get to visit, please go to see her and get a very good funny history lesson about the building itself!! Wonderful trip! Love the house and setting! Paradise is the perfect name!!
