Esta é uma casa de família a maior parte do ano e vamos viajar durante os meses de verão.

Beautiful House, Perfect View

Thank you so much for such an easy and trouble free stay.

We stayed in the house only to sleep but wished it could've been for longer and will certainly consider booking it again if we need more room the next time we visit family in Dunbar.

There was plenty of space and we just wished we could've enjoyed it for longer.

Dreamy!

We stayed here for a week in early June 2012, with 2 children and grandparents in tow. The cottage was everything the ad said and more. Amazing character and charm, cozy and had all the amenities we needed. Sue was extremely helpful and gave us great advice on the town and area. We had a hard time leaving, and will definately be back!! The garden was used constantly for "fighting pirates". Perfect for families with children.

Felt like home as soon as we walked through door

My Husband, Mom and three children felt at home as soon as we walked through the door. The house is lovely and the sea views magnificent! We were lulled to sleep each night by the sound of the sea.

Sue and her daughter were brilliant and took care of everything we needed.

We could walk everywhere and it was a quick and easy journey to Edinburgh.

The children had fun and we felt so relaxed here.

We will be back!

A Mixed Bag

We had a great holiday (me + partner + 2 kids + my mum) but have mixed views on the cottage.

On the positive side it was very well located, right on beach, fantastic sea views, and handy for the town and the station. The cottage is spacious and was generally clean. It was well equipped in some ways, board games for the kids, book, and CDs. But a very odd selection of cooking equipment. - all you needed to bake and decorate cakes but no tin-opener!

Strangely it feel as if the family have just moved out, personal ornaments and nick-knacks, personal paperwork and belongings in the kitchen draws, (found when looking for the tin-opener) and family photographs. My mother in particular found this rather disconcerting, she said you expected the family to return any minute, and I know what she meant. Looking at the guest book its clear that lots of people liked this, and felt it made it more homely, but we were not amongst them.

More seriously we had a problem with leaking plumbing and water dripping though the kitchen ceiling. The only contact number we had for the owners mobile and she was on holiday, so it took time and effort to sort it out At one point we were told the water would have to be turned off, which was completely unacceptable, but eventually a plumber was found and the problem solved.

Also, there is no way to control the heating without contacting the owner. Although we were there in July some evenings were chilly with a strong wind straight off the sea. It would have been nice to put the heating on for an hour or two, but as the controls are in locked cupboard we had to call the owner and get someone round to put it on. Not a major problem but we then had heating on even when we didn’t need it.

Finally, there is road, albeit a quiet one, between the cottage and the beach, not visible in the photographs.

Resposta do proprietário: Dear Gavin, We are so sorry that you experienced troubles with the upstairs tap leaking. It turned out to be a simple matter of tightening the shower attachment by hand and it was sorted. The plumber explained that there had been a recent water pressure change and this (despite the house being over 100 years old) was likely the reason. We have never had a leak before or since. Regarding our home having personal objects and effects - we do store away all our valuables and leave the house feeling as cosy and interesting as we can for our guests. As you say - out of all the families we have had stay over the years - yours was the only one who felt uncomfortable here. Your review will be useful for other families to know that indeed - this is not a hotel rather a l family home which we love and enjoy sharing with others. Regarding the tin opener - again - I am so sorry that you could not find one here and we have since acquired 3 from other families who have left theirs behind. Finally, we have two very reliable and wonderful house care takers who work hard and aim to please our guests. I was not happy to hear that you did not treat them with the kindness and respect they do deserve. Regards, Susan Guy

A fantastic break away for New Year

We decided to go away for New Year with friends, so 3 couples and 3 babies all aged one decided on Coast Cottages as our break away and what an absolutely fab time we had! Sue the owner was there to meet us when we arrived to go over any questions we had and to let us know that we could contact her for anything at all if need be, nothing was a bother for her which was really good. The house itself was just fantastic, very clean, homely and welcoming and location wasfantastic, right on the sea front. We went for a walk around Dunbar one day and drove into Edinburgh on New Years Day to go to the Zoo then to the Winter Wonderland although we could have quite easily just spent all our time in the house! The kids loved exploring around the house and they loved the fish, in fact our son Daniel ate all of his food whilst watching the fish, so we are going to buy one this week! We would put the kids to bed, then sit around the kitchen table eating our evening meal and drinking red wine, and chatting, what a great way to end a very busy year and see a New Year in! We definitely are going to book to go again and would recommend Coast Cottages as a lovely break away.

Ideal for families with young children

As three families with young babies we had a great stay at the house. We all found the house very comfortable - it felt like home. The pictures on the web site don't do the house justice - it has a great feel to it.

If you have young children there is a leisure centre nearby with good facilties - you may want to pack the swimming costumes.

The only negative to the whole stay was not booking more days!
