We had a lovely time this summer at Praia del rei. The house suited us very well; it was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The swimming pools were fab and considering the amount of families staying the place was quiet and therefore very relaxing.

We enjoyed the resort facilities as well as discovering local towns and some beautiful beaches.

Our only issue was that the trees at the back meant that the living parts of the house were more often than not in shade and even cold sometimes. More pruning of the trees would deal with this. But this didn't stop us having fun.

Beautiful villa in a stunning development

As a family of four, with children aged 6 and 8 who enjoy sports, we chose Praia Del Rey for the facilities on offer and the proximity to the beautiful beach. The villa is as lovely as pictured - and just about 50 steps away from a fantastic pool with lots of sun loungers to laze around on. The pool was generally quiet during the day and just tended to get busy around 4pm, when people returned from day trips out.

We were spectactularly lazy for the duration of our hols and only ventured out when we were forced by rather unsettled weather. This was the only downside to the holiday for us. We were unlucky to experience unusually unseasonal weather which meant we had about a week of fog and quite cold weather. The sun only burst through much later in the day (another reason for the rush to the pool!). However, it didn't dampen our spirits and we played tennis, used the driving range (very good golf course) and booked our son in to the Football Academy for 1 day. Again, this was rather disappointing as there were only 3 boys on the course overall!

The Clubhouse is great for lunches and dinner in the evening. Beautiful patio to sit outside on to eat. Reasonably good value and consistently good food - although the menu doesn't change that often. Also down by the beachfront is a very good restaurant and supermarket. We would surf on the beach first thing and then head in for hot chocolate and a delicious breakfast. The little supermarket is also good for the essentials, but expensive. While we were staying, there was an open-air film night and also a local market in the main square which was enjoyable.

The tides are very strong on this coastline and more often then not the local beach is red-flagged. However, you can paddle and jump the waves, whilst being watched closely by the local lifeguards. Head to the Lagoon for swimming and there are other beaches nearby great for surfing, bodyboarding and swimming.

I would definitely recommend this villa. Andy and Tasmeena were very helpful prior to our arrival and the on-site Management Company are very helpful if needed. It's a lovely spot for a relaxed holiday, but do pack a jumper or two just in case the dreaded fog returns!

Superb house for anyone to take a holiday

We spent a week in July at this house, and I have to say that it was fantastic. The house is exactly as described with three big bedrooms (the one upstairs is simply amazing both in size and decor). 2 incredibly equipped bathrooms and a kitchen that I'd like for my own house (take dishwasher tablets with you as there weren't any and also coffee maker filters apart from that you won't need anything else). A huge living room divided into two levels (as seen on the photo). Big terrace upstairs and another at street level+garden.

2 of the pools are just 50mts away. It's located in a quiet area and the property is always clean. The owner provided a superb customer service and was always ready to help us via email. We had the chance to pay in € and the transaction was quick and without any problems (the deposit is given back by the owner to your account once you've left the house).

The beach, which is a bit dangerous due to currents, is not far away, but you'll need the car. I'll recommend you to go to the many beaches Peniche offers as they are less risky.

Peniche is 12km away and Obidos less than 20km and you'll find everything you need in both places (supermarkets, restaurants, shops, pubs,...).

Temperature in summer is fantastic as it gets cool at night so you can sleep perfectly and during the day it isn't too hot.

Perfect area for practising surf and golf.

Definitely it is a house that I strongly recommend and which perfectly suits families with kids or anyone looking for relaxed holidays

A Lovely Property

The villa was even better than described with a lovely open and large living and dining area. The kitchen was well equipped and openned on to a perfect outside dining area. The bathrooms were equally large and well equipped and so to the bedrooms.

The complex was clean and beautifully manicured and the choice of pools was impressive. In the middle of July it wasn't crowded and had a calm and peaceful feel. The resort restaurants are expensive, but of very good quality and worthwhile.

The area is lovely too, the proximity to Obidos a real boon. I have recommended the property to friends and hope to return again.

Oh and the beach was breath taking!
