This gorgeous 2 bedroom 2 bath pre-civil war log cabin is perched on the edge of the bluff overlooking a magnificent view of Town Creek as it meanders through the bottom of the Tennessee Valley Divide. This newly renovated historic log cabin was originally built in the mid 1800's in New Market, Alabama. The cabin took a trip down Highway 72 in Madison County and found a temporary home almost on the Limestone County line for many years. Our sweet friends, Don and Jan Kennedy, moved this beauty and renovated it in 1980. The cabin was home to many retail and commercial spaces over the course of the next 35 years. In 2015 Don approached us and asked if we would be interested in helping relocate and save this cabin. Years of weather exposure had really done a number on the logs on the South side of the cabin and the concrete chinking had also held moisture in the joints and expedited decomposition of the logs near each joint. We knew there would be repairs and even some replacement logs needed in the restoration of this cabin, but not so much that we felt the cabin could not be saved. So we took on the challenge and began the process of getting the cabin moved to our property. About a month into our work, we were presented with another cabin opportunity that ended up taking top priority for about a year. We worked quickly to get the roof off of Kennedy and get the top 3 courses of logs down so that we could load the cabin on a truck and move it to the High Falls area of Guntersville. (See our video below for our moving day fun!) After getting the cabin moved and set up on the foundation, we put a roof on it and secured the property and moved our efforts to Barnwood Lodge until October 2016. 10 months later, here we are, ready to share this gem with everyone! We are so excited to announce that Kennedy Cabin at High Falls is OFFICIALLY OPEN!!!!
