I am really torn about the review I'm about to write, especially considering the prior (overwhelmingly positive) reviews that I read before I booked. The reservation and check-in process was super smooth, the listing was accurate, and the neighborhood is so cute! It's convenient to the airport and downtown, the houses in this area are all over 100 years old and the architecture was really neat to be a part of.
There were, however, some parts of our stay that just knocked off a couple stars. The apartment itself is spacious, and while the baseboard heaters can be tricky if you've never used them before, they did a more than okay job heating up the place, as did the fireplace. The bed in the room with one bed was comfortable, but it was SO squeaky, it kept us up and woke us up - every time the other person moved, it squeaked like crazy - not sure if it was the frame, the springs, or both. The large bed in the other room was the same. Comfortable, but incredibly disruptive to sleep with another person in the bed with you. There was also someone's clothing and shoes in both closets, and in the dresser which was a first for me in a VRBO - we felt weird unpacking into partially filled closets so we didn't. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and pots and pans, but it also had a decent amount of food in the cupboard, fridge and freezer....wasn't sure how old it was or if it was meant for us?
The couch and chair in the living room were decent but not super comfortable; the owner said she has new furniture coming in, so hopefully most of these issues will be addressed.
Due to the age of the house, our floor squeaked with almost every step we took, so we tried to tiptoe around out of courtesy for the downstairs neighbor. Unfortunately, we heard every step she took, every door she closed, every chair she moved. And toward the end of the week, a dog arrived downstairs and he was very loud, barking mostly in the evening and late at night.
All in all....the price was right, for sure. The location was super convenient, but I think we were mostly disappointed with the amount of noise coming from the house itself and the downstairs neighbor - we had picked a VRBO over a downtown hotel to have a quiet Spokane experience and didn't feel we got that, unfortunately.
