The Mariani B & B is located in a caretaker country
medieval by the name of Castellina in Chianti, one of the main capitals of the Chianti Classico.
The wine-growing area of ​​the Chianti area was defined in 1932 by a ministerial decree and since then the borders have remained unchanged. The decree defined the area of ​​production of the Chianti Classico wine as the "oldest area of ​​origin". Since then, the current territory of Chianti has therefore been recognized as an original production area for Chianti Classico wine.

The origins of Castellina in Chianti date back to the seventh century BC. C.
Along the main road that follows the ridge and crosses
Castellina, there were once several Etruscan villages,
that connected the great cities of Etruria.
In Castellina many important Etruscan finds have come to light, in particular the imposing tomb of Mount Calvario, which measures about 53 meters and is not far from the village.

Along the s. s 222 leading to Siena, archaeologists have unearthed a small necropolis containing five tombs, four with crypts and a small rectangular chamber in the shape of a bust. The archaeological finds are exhibited at the Archaeological Museum of the Municipality of Castellina In Chianti, which can be visited by tourists today.


The Mariani B & B is about 50 meters from the
historical center of the village where there are shops, bars,
pizzerias and restaurants. Originally the Mariani family
was one of the first families of Castellina in Chianti
to work in the culinary / hotel sector.
It is thanks, in fact, to their passion that
the Mariani hotel / restaurant has been handed down for generations for over a century. Today, it has been cleverly renovated offering
so its customers a comfortable environment. Each room has been carefully furnished in Tuscan style, of which the furniture belonged to the same family.
