Dommage un peu bruyant. Propriétaire sympa. À recommander. Tout près du vieux Lyon ville super.
Clean and Convenient
I booked this flat because I thought they had A/C. Unsure why I thought that, but they did have 2 fans, and that helped with the comfort of the flat, since Lyon was experiencing a very warm summer. I also liked the idea that it was in a secure building, since I was travelling alone, and look for extra safety when booking. I am glad that the buzzer wasn't working, so that was not an issue. There was a little bit of road/traffic noise, however. The flat was located on the Saone river, and once I figured out the bus and the VeloV bike ride system, it was very convenient. The flat is on the first floor, so you didn't actually have the view of the river until you walked outside. There was a lot of construction going on in Lyon (apparently, all over France, they perform road construction in August/September all over the city and the country), so that took away some of the charm of the location. There are other neighborhoods that might have more culture, charm and French feel, but for the price, location and cleanliness of the flat, it was well worth it for the location. It wasn't like I spent a lot of time in the apt. I could walk to Old Town or near Hotel de Ville, or take the bus or use the bike share (which I highly suggest, they have a great App). Roland picked me up at the airport, and explained everything (almost - didn't figure out the upper slide windows until day 3) and having a clothes washer was ideal. The fridge was new, and the setting didn't make ice quickly, but should work now. The internet worked wonderfully.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Le Saone property. It is very clean, pretty convenient, and the hosts are responsive and very helpful, and speak English (Roland teaches English), so that is a plus.
Comfortable place. Great location.
Thanks. You'll be welcome back anytime.
Great stay in Lyon!
Great cozy apartment. Prior to my visit all questions were answered quickly, Hervey and Roland met me at the apartment to show me everything I would need to know about the apartment and even left a chilled bottle of wine in the fridge. I have to say the coffee in the flat was the best ever, I am ordering the coffee machine for my home.
There is a wonderful open market 15 minute walk up the river.
The only comment that could be negative is that it can be noisy at times with the traffic outdoors and the door buzzing. It did not bother my sleep but if someone is a light sleeper it could be a problem. They have thoughtfully left ear plugs in the bedside table if needed.
I would definitely stay here again.
Thanks Saundra. We're glad you enjoyed your stay. We will be very happy to welcome you again!
Bien aménagé et décoré
Il y a tout ce qu il faut. Donne sur les quais de Saône, pour se promener.
Modern apartment in the old heart of Lyon. The apartment is comfortably appointed including the compact kitchen with all you will need for preparing light meals. It’s convenient for walkers to many sites; Museum de Beaux Arts, the Opera, and the Hotel de Ville, restaurants and shops. The bus stop is only steps away from your front door. Bus 40 Bellecour le Viste will take you to the square where the tourist office is located. Bus 19 Hotel de Ville Louis Pradel Will take you to the Hotel De Ville in the heart of the city. Just up the river on the other side of the bridge “passerrelle Koenig” and a short walk to your right is the landing for the Vaporetto, the boat that can take you in to the harbor of the Confluence, one of the premier shopping malls in the world. Getting around is easy.
The building is gated and secure in a part of the city where there are many students who attend the national school for the arts, Les Subsistance. There are many restaurants in the area, three immediately close by: Quai des Arts (french) at the Subsistance complex right next door; La Vida (tapas), and; Le Petit Zinc (french) just across the River Saoen via the walking bridge “passerelle de l’Homme de la Roche.” Also, at the end of the walking bridge is a really good boulangerie and if you like to bike, there is a rack of bicycles to rent.
The apartment is spotless and well appointed with all that you will need: linens, soaps, paper products, dish washing and laundry detergents, coffee, teas, sugar, salt, pepper, even a first aid kit and a hairdryer. There is a plethora of literature and tourist information.
We have been to many regions in France over the past 8 years and we would rank Lyon at, or near the top of places to visit. One final comment: Both of the hosts speak perfect English and are responsive via email. You may have confidence that they will help you in any way they can to enjoy Lyon.
Thank you Anita and Charles, for your visit in LYON and your very nice and precise appreciation about the flat we rent and our beautiful city :-)
We really like to live in LYON and share our city with people from all over the world ! This is a not too big city, modern and ancient at the same time, perfect to work and take pleasure too ! We really appreciate the two rivers and as you said, the vaporetto (or the walking "promenade" on the quays) are charming for tourists... and for us too !
We hope to see you again in LYON, to share the french gastronomy and Monsieur Paul spirit... we have to go to "Les Halles Paul BOCUSE" together !
Best wishes from LYON :-)
