Nice house in central Tavira

This house is centrally located in Tavira, and is walking distance into the town centre. It was more than big enough for ourselves and our toddler, although probably not perfect for young children as there are a lot of stairs and terraces. When we arrived there was still rubbish in the bin from the last renters (mainly newspapers) and we had to turn both the fridge and the hot water on (which meant we couldn't use the shower or bath our first night there - a bit inconvenient with a young child). We loved walking around the centre of Tavira, and would recommend trying the market (out towards the beach) for buying supplies, as it was much cheaper than the shops in town. Overall a lovely place to stay.

Resposta do proprietário: Thank you for your review, its the first one we've had. We're glad you had a nice time. We use a local firm to take care of cleaning, changing towels/linen and any maintenance issues that may arise. We have told them about the un-emptied bin and that the fridge and hot water weren't on when you arrived. Hopefully these problems won't arise in future. You are right to recommend the market, not only is it good value but it is a fun place to shop with a wealth of fresh produce of every description. On the other side of the river, more or less opposite the market, but a bit closer to the center is Pingo Dolce a good supermarket which can actually be cheaper than the market for some things. Close to our house, is a tiny shop which amazingly sells virtually everything and there is a Lidle which is closer than Pingo Dolce though not so nice.

Three lovely terraces

Very comfortable house, with three lovely terraces for sun or shade at different times of day. Nice cool bedrooms downstairs and the house is very well equipped. The house management was very helpful and friendly.

Nice easy walk to the centre of town and to the beach ferry. Good food market further up from the ferry, the best place to buy gifts to take home. Restaurant Castelo, quite near the house, worth a visit, but book early! Really enjoyable stay, we recommend it highly.

Great house and great location

This was a great house for a family of 4 (all adults) with plenty of room and a selection of outside areas. It was just a few minutes walk from the centre of Tavira and there were places nearby as well. We came by taxi so not sure what you would do if you had a car to park. Definitely recommended

A Pretty Getaway

My perfect holiday is one where I can relax in a beautiful, spacious and peaceful house yet am in the heart of somewhere quirky and interesting to potter around during the day. I also want some great little restaurants and bars for the evening, throw in some live music and I'm in heaven- so Tavira was perfect for me! When I've only got a week's holiday I like to leave the driving and the rushing around behind and truly relax.

The house was just what we needed, delicously cool inside with it's gorgeous heavy wooden shutters, but I loved the pretty little sunny balconies - different ones for different parts of the day's sunshine! A great way to start the day was breakfast bought fresh from the market, sitting up on the rooftop overlooking the town. The fresh orange juice made from these portuguese oranges has the best flavour I've had anywhere!

Tavira has the best of both worlds, it's a pretty historic town lost in time, yet has a great cafe culture and some fabulous restaurants and bars for the evening. If you don't fancy doing anything but depositing yourself here in Tavira for a week you wouldn't be bored, particularly if you like pottering around exploring little backstreets, sampling the cafe culture and supping a little vinho verde in the sunshine (this quickly became my daily ritual...) If you do have itchy feet to explore then hiring a car means there are so many places to visit - both beautiful beaches and bustling towns.

I would thoroughly recomment a visit.
