On the ground floor : It has a bright and sunny, well equipped country-style kitchen/diner, with farmhouse table seating eight, and French doors leading onto the sunny courtyard. The large separate lounge, with log-burning feature fireplace, has sumptuous sofas and benefits from English satellite TV. French doors lead onto a shady covered terrace. There are 2 double bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room: a family bathroom, and separate toilet. On the first floor : There is a further double bedroom, a twin bedroom, and another toilet and shower. Setting : This charming house is nestled in two acres of land with oak woodland to the rear and open meadow in front stretching down towards the river. The 12m x 4m heated swimming pool is set in its own large sun terrace, with a wonderful view of the Chateau. A perfect place to relax and soak up the sun! Don't let the picture on Google Earth fool you - it must have been taken at dawn! The pool is bathed in sunshine from mid-morning until sundown! For dining al fresco, there are two terraces - one by the pool, benefiting from lovely dappled shade; the other a covered terrace to the rear of the house, ideal for eating or simply relaxing in the shade. Both enjoy beautiful views over the countryside. Le Chause Haut really is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy your holiday with family or friends. The owners live in the cottage next door so are just a few minutes away should you require any advice or assistance. Surroundings : The house overlooks the beautiful Vézère Valley, and sits at the end of a private drive which winds gently up from the river. The little village of Thonac with its well stocked shop, restaurant and bar, is less than a mile away. The charming market town of Montignac and the famous Lascaux caves are just a ten minute drive to the north, and the pre-historic troglodyte fortress of La Roque Saint-Christophe a ten minute drive to the South. You will be spoilt for choice for places to visit and things to do! The medieval town of Sarlat; Les Eyzies, the European centre of Pre-History; and several of the Plus Beaux Villages de France including St Leon sur Vézère, Beynac, Castelnaud, and Domme, are within a twenty mile radius of the house. Other wonderful attractions in the immediate area include pre-historic parks and caves; chateaux and gardens; and magnificent castles dating back to the Hundred Years War. The many and varied activities on the doorstep include canoeing, horse-riding, walking, cycling and paragliding. There are also many attractions such as an aquarium, a treetop adventure park and a heritage theme park. To name them all would need a book - the list is endless....! Those looking to experience the gastronomic delights of the region will find a nearby market on every day of the week offering the very best that local producers have to offer. There are many opportunities to discover the secrets of production and sample the fine foods and wine that this area is famous for - confit de canard, foie gras, gateau noix, regional cheeses and Bergerac wines to name but a few. There is an abundance of local restaurants to suit every taste and budget, ranging from riverside cafés to haute cuisine.
