Cagliari is an Italian municipality of 154 507 inhabitants, the capital of the autonomous region of Sardinia and the main center of its metropolitan city, including in addition to the capital and the municipalities conurbated to it also several centers of the urban belt, for a total of 431 302 inhabitants. Cagliari overlooks the center of the Golfo degli Angeli, on the southern coast of Sardinia. The city, which develops around the hill of the historic Castello district, is delimited to the east by the Sella del Diavolo and the Molentargius pond, to the west by the Cagliari pond, to the south by the sea and to the north by the San Michele hill and the plain del Campidano.
