Located in downtown Anchorage, the Mayor’s cabin was built in 1946 by architect Maynard Taylor, who lived in it with his wife and three kids while he was Mayor of Anchorage in the 1950s. The cabin is constructed of solid logs and still has its original metal roof but has been fully renovated and updated, with new wiring and plumbing up to modern code!
The cabin has two bedrooms, a living room, one bathroom, and a recently renovated kitchen. Please note the bathroom is only accessible through the master bedroom. Newly redecorated, the cabin is a fun mix of modern and traditional Alaskan styles. Enjoy the fully-fenced in yard and deck space -- perfect for summer BBQs, or building snowmen in the winter. The Mayor’s Cabin gives you a unique and authentic way to experience Anchorage and Alaska. It is a perfect place to stay while in Anchorage for pleasure or on business. It offers much more room and comfort than a sterile hotel room or modern apartment. The Mayor’s Cabin is a fun resting stop on your way out of town or your own personal retreat.
The cabin has bed space for up to four guests. The main bedroom features a queen size bed and there are two additional very Alaskan (see pictures!) twin beds in the separate second bedroom. The kitchen is very well equipped and the living room is both very comfortable and good for working. There is both Apple TV (with Netflix) and fast WIFI. The cabin is cozy!
The entire cabin and the fully fenced yard is yours. Both the front and back doors have secure keyless entry locks with the code provided prior to arrival.
We may be able to accommodate access to laundry. Please message for more information.
Street parking is readily available. Anchorage is not a walking town, or really a biking town (although there is a great trail system), so having a car is highly recommended.
