This listing combines a large house having a deck with a beautiful view of the ocean and an adjacent cottage allowing for peace and quiet. Perfect for an extended family, or for family and friends where some privacy (or social distancing) is desired. Great for working at home, or long walks on the beach.
Watch the ocean from the main house deck. or from the couch in the living room, or up in the second floor bedroom, as the boats go through the cut between the beach and the outer barrier sandbar. A quick walk down the path to the beach, and choose between Lighthouse beach on the left or right towards Monomoy (shells always, see seals swimming often). There are several beach chairs provided.
The main house has 3 floors, cable (2 TVs, Comcast wifi), great mini-split AC, a large kitchen, and a gas grill on the deck. It sleeps 8 - with up to 4 kids in 2 bunkbeds in one large kid-friendly room, or up to 6 adults in queen beds in 3 comfortable rooms, with a tub or shower on each floor). It is a pleasant walk up to Chatham light or on to the town center.
The cottage sleeps 4, with a queen bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the livingroom. The cottage kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, dishwasher and microwave.
The cottage has its own Comcast wifi/cable, with a smart TV. The bathroom has a tub/shower. Summer breezes often provide effective cooling, with window air conditioners also available.
Like many Cape Summer rentals, linens (sheets, towels, pillowcases) are not provided. There are a number of firms that deliver and pickup linens in Chatham, and we'd be happy to provide a partial list.
Every year we get questions about our no pets policy. Between May 1st and September 15th dogs aren't allowed on Chatham beaches, except one, and that one is a bit of a drive. And a pet left inside a strange house while its owners are at the beach may decide to take revenge, and that's not something that I or my cleaning team have time to wrestle with during the transition between guests.
We want to mention a minor parking inconvenience, so as to avoid surprises. Around Labor Day 2023 a fence was erected blocking our cottage parking. All of our renters last Summer were successfully able to make use of our main house parking (including the front lawn in some cases), and we are working to have our cottage parking restored.
