Such a warm, inviting cottage/home. Steps from the boardwalk to a soft sandy beach. Had that wonderful cottage smell of wood and salt air, with so many thoughtful updates and a cleanliness that included closets full of sheets towels and heavenly duvets. Our antiques bureau's were lined with scented paper and the beds had soft mattress pads. The kitchen was stocked with pots and pans of high quality and endless supply. There were fans provided but there was no need with the beautiful sea breezes that blew in every night. Several nights were cool enough to light a little fire in the gorgeous beach stone fireplace with cozy, reclining Murphy chairs to sink into. The kids fell into bed after their days spent out on the jetty and/or jumping off the bridge. We walked to the Lobster Pound and had the most unbelievable, overflowing lobster rolls. And the locals or other rentals were friendly and always assisting other beach goers.
A prior review mentioned the small parking lot adjacent to the home and I agree with him, it's no deal breaker by any means. We sat on the deck each morning having breakfast and enjoyed the sights! Overall a wonderful rental and we look forward to renting again.
Having spent a couple weeks every summer at Green Harbor as a kid, I never thought I'd be bringing my family to such a nice and convenient rental as an adult. The house is literally a minute from Burke's Beach, and is fully stocked, just as your own house would be. The master bedroom and deck were wonderful, and I could go on about how great the place was, but I'll sum it up briefly: each of my three children separately asked to come back next year, my wife told me that she could live in the rental permanently, and my youngest told me that she would give up Internet to stay longer.
We rented as an extended family with 4 kids and 4 adults last summer. The house is beautifully decorated and maintained with high end finishings and a well stocked kitchen. The large deck off the master bedroom has great views and we spent most of our evenings on the deck on the side of the house (no views but nice breeze). We have always stayed on the beach with no walk in the past and I was nervous I wouldn't like the short walk down the boardwalk, but it really wasn't a problem and with a beach cart we were able to bring down everything we needed. Ample parking was available for our cars and guests. The owner was easily available and when the oven broke she had it replaced in about a day. The only thing to be aware of is the house is adjacent to a small public parking lot and at times there was noise and chatter later at night or early in the morning. Wasn't a deal breaker but just wanted to note it.
The location of this house was ideal. Right at the entrance to a beautiful beach. The beach has a jetty for the kids to walk on, and to fish off of. The entrance to a harbor is on the other side, which makes for some nice scenic views. There is also a small bridge nearby that all the kids love to jump off of at high tide. Those two things kept my kids busy,(ages 10 and 14), for the week. In the past they have gotten bored when we have rented at the beach. I on the other hand need nothing but a sand chair and a book for the week and I am content. (: The house was gorgeous, the pictures don't do it justice. The deck off the second floor master has stunning views. A nice breeze usually blows to make it a perfect spot to sit. The master also has it's own bathroom which is a nice touch.
