The house was just as described! Gabriella was very helpful and we enjoyed being on the beach every day. The house was well supplied with dishes pots and pans . Would recommend this property.
Beautiful spacious home on the beach. Close to town and yet private and quiet. We had a fantastic family vacation ..... Gabriela is a wonderful host! We would highly recommend staying here.
It is a Mexican house so we knew what to expect. The only complaints are that the mattresses are cheap and old sleeping on springs. The pool is nice but it is a salt water pool not so nice. The furniture is very uncomfortable and worn. And no lounge chairs!! Maybe it's a North American thing but lounge chairs by the pool are a must. Had to sit in a plastic chair. The place was clean and spacious. Lots of beds and bathrooms with showers. Even with just getting lounge chairs I would go back.
This house and our host met our needs beautifully! The description is accurate, the place was spotless and we had high speed internet.
There were 5 of us including my 83 yr old father who uses a walker, he had no problem with the small lip of the walk in shower, two steps on the main floor or the few steps to the beach. The beach!! There is little to no undertow making it a very safe beach for older folks and kids. The bird watching was awesome!! Fabulous fishing displays by Pelicans, Frigatebirds and many others. What I loved was that there were hardly any people around...Meridians go to their cottages in the summer (like we do) and in the winter it is too cold...so there are very few people...yeah!! We cooked our food, made our beds, swept the kitchen and loved not having to interact with anyone very much.
We arrived in the late afternoon and Gabriela took us into the village to point out her favorite produce vendors, bakery, laundry and so we could get the lay of the land. She also hooked us up with a young woman who cooked for us and showed us how to make some traditional, Meridian meals--on Mondays it's Frijoles con Puerco-yum!...but first we had to go to the El Mercado with her to buy everything we needed and that was an awesome trip too! It was great and much appreciated. Great fish, and ceviche at Dos Bariles in Chicxulub as well as something they made with ground squash seeds.
We had rented a car which we'd highly recommend. The highways are great and this time of year there is little to no traffic.
We had a spectacular meal at the Hacienda Xcanatun, fished off the Pier in Progresso and caught lunch!, totally enjoyed the small and Free! very close by, archeolgical site of XCambo -great if you can't walk too far-it is no big deal to go for an hour or do repeat trips and really get a feel for the history as well as Dzibilchaltun(wear your bathings suit as their are no change rooms right at the cenote)
We found Gabriela’s beautiful summer home/cottage/villa while browsing a number of vacation sites on line, including vacationrentals.com. We knew we wanted a beach property, and we wanted one near Progreso and Merida in the Yucatan. All those choices were map picks as we had no previous experience with any of these areas. We had never been to anything other than all-inclusives on the Mayan Riviera, so at times it felt like a big scary adventure!
If, however, you are lucky enough to rent Gabriela’s summer home, you will find yourself in very good and trustworthy hands. Dealing with people you do not know, in a country you do not know, can be quite intimidating. Gabriela was very patient and reassuring with us. It did also mean also taking a leap of faith!
We are so glad we did. The house is just beautiful. It has three huge bedrooms with ensuite and one smaller bedroom with ensuite, two lovely living rooms, one inside and one outside (roofed), and the most amazing round dining room table that easily accommodates ten to twelve people. The kichen is completely outfitted with everything you might need. The plunge pool is fifty feet from the ocean and the upstairs balcony makes a great private tanning nook. Predominantly this is a summer resort for well-to-do Meridian’s during their summer months of July and August, so there are very few people around in February, March, or April. Perfect for us.
With day trips to pyramids, ruins, mangrove parks, flamingo parks, Progreso and Merida, we could not have been happier with our choice of place. It works much better if you do have a car, as the Collectivo’s (buses) tend not to run that consistently in those months.
Gabriela’s also arranged for anything that we thought we might like to have. In particular, we asked for a local person who could cook us regional food, and she found us a young woman for the local village of Chicxulub. This was a brilliant thing to do, as Ileana cooked for us for a couple of days and we ate for a week on what she prepared. Lovely altogether.
It turned out that renting a property from someone local really worked for us, as Gabriela was helpful in those many myriad of ways that aided so much in navigating a new world. You can rely on her, so don’t be intimidated!
As a side note, the electrical plugs in most rooms are fine for computers, hairdryers, etc.

assistindo-do-sol esplendoroso ou apenas tirando uma soneca em sua rede e lendo um livro
