The house 'Sechoir Dordogne', originated from an old tobacco barn (séchoir a tabac) from around 1900. The area was once known for its tobacco trade, in this shed the leaves were hung to dry. We bought it as a barn, inside you stood in the sand and looked you straight against the tiles.
In 2015 and 2016, the barn has been converted into luxurious and spacious holiday home of approximately 150 m2 of living space and a garden of approximately 3 000 m2. (detailed information can be found on and for pictures of the renovation we refer to our Facebook page 'Séchoir Dordogne - Trémolat').
To obtain the necessary permits, it was appreciated to have a similar appearance. Where now are the high windows were once the shutters were open put for drying. The large barn doors have been preserved for the authentic character. With the exception of the shutters and glass doors at the back, the whole barn there. To the structure is moreover still visible. Even the original timber is still between the insulated interior and new exterior siding.
Within a concrete floor was poured and a floor made of chestnut wood. To maintain the appearance of abrasion have been made two big voids. In addition to the characteristic elements is also given to the practicalities. On the ground floor is the hall with staircase, toilet and laundry / utility room. The living room is divided into a dining area (nice open kitchen with loft) at the back, a nice lounge and TV area at the front.
The floor is divided into 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets. All sleep up to 6 people.
The open area at the back (about 3 000 m2) was originally a small vineyard. At the house is a large terrace with garden where in the spring and autumn is very pleasant. In the summer you will want to sit in the shade of the walnut tree or under the veranda more quickly. A swimming pool has been installed since spring 2018. Space for playing football, playing badminton or other games is plenty, but you can also choose to enjoy the view with a deck chair and a book in the back of the garden.
Further, obviously chosen for convenience, thereby missing out on a washer, dryer, dishwasher, satellite TV with Dutch channels and free WIFI.
Trémolat is situated between Périgord Pourpre and Périgord Noir (purple the color of the wine and black of dark woods). Situated directly on the beautiful valley of the Dordogne. An idyllic location from which to discover the region. Trémolat is right on the Dordogne River, (from the house about 200 meters as the crow flies yet).
