The VIGLATORAS Traditional Apartments is a traditional farm set in a lush green little village, Sarhos, at the foot of Mt. Pseiloritis, 20 km from the town of Heraklion.
VIGLATORAS consists of little accommodation units (cottages) conveniently arranged on a forested hill of 73 acres. The units are built, decorated, and furnished in a style that blends harmoniously with the environment and with due respect to Cretan tradition. At the same time the units are comfortable and relaxing.
The farm offers numerous natural attractions and guests have also the opportunity to pick fruit and vegetables, watch the preparation of traditional food and pastries, etc. All these things provide guests with an alternative form of recreation for a number of days.
The accommodation complex of VIGLATORAS is conveniently located at the centre of Crete, which facilitates access to other attractions on the island.
The units consist of a ground floor with interior stairs leading to a platform or landing that has been designed to function as bedroom. The stairs and landing are made of wood while the ceiling is made of fine cypress tree beams.
The ground floor features a living room, fully furnished kitchen and comfortable bath. The fireplace can be used for cooking by all those who are keen on reviving an aspect of country style living.
Depending on their type, the units are designed to accommodate from 2 to 4 guests.
Inside the farm you will find a spacious old stone house which is furnished and equipped in such a way as to reflect the particular style of Cretan architecture and tradition. This house is available for multiple use (coffee shop, tavern, sitting-room, recreation area). In the old, stone house, the spacious room on the ground floor functions as living room and restaurant area where guests are served with delicious preparations of Cretan style.
The holidays in an agrotourist complex in Crete are bound together with famous Cretan diet, where the visitor has the chance to taste it and also help preparing it. By that, Cretan products like cheese, honey, vegetables, olive oil, oregano, thyme, sage, rusks, wine, raki from local vines and aromatic herbs as well as many more will constitute the basic ingredients of your meals, which will be cooked by the owner or another cook of the area based on traditional recipes.
The farm offers numerous natural attractions and guests have also the opportunity to pick fruits and vegetables, watch the preparation of traditional food and pastries, etc. All these things provide with an alternative form of recreation for a number of days.
