Outstanding accommodation and food
The property is beautiful, with exceptional attention to detail. Very comfortable room, in beautiful location. The breakfast was delicious and perfectly cooked. Note the accommodation is only suitable for pets if they will be OK in the outhouse.

Excellent historic property hosted by owners who truely care about your comfort
We had a very comfortable stay at this B&B. The common area is top notch; clean and well appointed. Our en-suite room was also furnished with antiques and new bathroom fixtures. The owners are very engaging and greeted us with tea and cakes. It is located in the center of town and you can reach several pubs and restaurants within a five minute walk. The town is also centrally located within the Peak District if you are exploring the general area. I highly recommend that you stay here !

All guests are personally greeted by Tricia who you will normally also exchange texts/emails with you when you make your booking. Tricia is a very friendly character, someone who is used to working with people having spent 30 years as an NHS employee. She’s available to help throughout your stay and of course puts her excellent cooking skills to good work each morning preparing your breakfast. She’s always available for a chat and keen to pass on her knowledge of the local area, attractions and walks, in fact anything that makes your stay at the Old Vicarage a comfortable and memorable event.

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade

In the Middle Ages the village of Tideswell was known for its lead mining. Today it’s best known for its 14th-century parish church known as the "Cathedral of the Peak", A sundial in the churchyard is believed to be positioned on the steps of the village's market cross. Although markets are no longer held, Tideswell’s is still a fully functioning village allowing residents to live, work and play without needing to leave its vicinity.
The beautiful rolling hills of the Peak District adorn the skyline in all directions and for those wanting to stretch their legs both the Limestone and Monsal Trails run close bye. The latter follows the course of the former Midland Railway which winds its way along the spectacular Wye valley. Since the railway closed in 1970 it’s track has helped cyclists, walkers and climbers enjoy the delights of the limestone gorge the river has created as well as the high plateau that surrounds it.
Further afield there are more Peak District villages to explore, each with a story to tell. The nearest town is Buxton famous for its spa waters. Castleton to the north is home to the semi-precious Blue John stone and the underground mines from which it was extracted, whilst to the east stands the majestic splendour of Chatsworth House surrounded by a park designed by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown.
