Property manager Elda Brown owns this charming bungalow along with her husband Kevin Jones. They live next door and are available to help you make the most out of your vacation or stay in Brevard. Elda is a retired local artist who was a member of #7 Arts and Craft Gallery at 2 W. Main St. downtown Brevard for ten years.

We wanted to preserve the unique nature of our street by saving the house next door to us, which was seriously in need of some tender love and kindness. We purchased it in May and began the renovation in June 2014. Thanks to the skill and hard work of our friend, master carpenter and all-around super Mr Fix-It, Rick M. and his wife Maryann, the Maple Street Bungalow has turned out wonderfully! We've put a lot of blood sweat and tears into fixing the house up so that our guests can visit and enjoy this town we love so much. Living downtown is so great! We can walk two blocks to the Farmer's Market where we buy our meats and vegetables directly from the farmer's who raise them. Most of the 5 and 10k road races pass right in front of the house as do groups of cyclists heading out to ride on our mountain roads. The main library is just at the end of the street. The library two blocks away has free live music at the outdoor amphitheater. From the fabulous front porch and the back deck of our Maple Street Bungalow you can sit and check out the white squirrels. Come experience it and you'll see what we mean!

Ask anyone who lives in Brevard and they will tell you that Maple Street is a special location. One of the first things you are bound to hear about is Halloween on Maple Street. For years it has been a local tradition for children from all over the county have come to Trick or Treat on Maple Street and Park Avenue. So the police barricade the street and it becomes a huge street party. We set up a card table at the sidewalk to pass out candy to the hundreds of trick or treaters. Last year we gave out 1500 pieces of candy! Maybe because we live in Transylvania County we take our costumes seriously here. Everyone from adults to infants dress up. There's a Halloween Festival downtown on the Saturday before Halloween complete with a parade and there are lots of other fun events during the spooky season. The start of our festival season (and summer) is The White Squirrel Festival on Memorial Day weekend. From then on there are festivals, special events, cycling and road races going on right up until Christmas. (By the way, you can see white squirrels at play in the yard or the Maple Street Bungalow and all through the neighborhood.) We are just a 5-6 minute drive from the Brevard Music Center and a short walk to the Porter Center on the campus of Brevard College where you can see live music performances from opera to bluegrass and live theatre. Several of the bars in town have live music. We have our own local brewery downtown and some excellent restaurants and coffee shops. After a day spent hiking, kayaking, looking at waterfalls or cycling, its SO nice not to have to drive anywhere. From the Maple Street Bungalow you can walk to everything!
