Les falta calidad para asimilarse a lo que tenemos en Europa,Aunque los edificios sean antiguos pueden estar actualizados en su totalidad,no solo el interior.
The property and location were truly excellent. Only have positive words for the apartment which was roomy, clean, lovingly restored, and with all the amenities one would want. Area a bit rough around the edges, but what is to be expected for the atmospheric Old City. Very close to sights one wants, very quiet at night, and safe.
Olenka and co-workers most engaging and helpful when called upon.
First I have to commend and thank Olenka, Jesper and their team. They were very responsive to any of my requests and suggestions and made my first stay in Montevideo a very pleasant and comfortable one. I was dubious to rent a studio apartment but was pleasantly surprised at the size, design, decor and good closet space. The location is in old Montevideo that is going through some revitalisation and is also next to the lively Puerto Mercado. there is a supermarket nearby to stock up the good sized fridge. It is also an easy stroll up to the Plaza Independencia and from there to the main shopping street. Also within easy walking distance is the "piece de resistance" and that is the La Rambla, Montevideo's seaside walking area, which stretches almost all the way from the airport all the way around and past the Port. I will be returning for sure!!
We stayed in the apartment for a week in February 2015. It is located in the Old Town part of the city close to the location where cruise ships dock and the passengers depart for their day of sightseeing. The location is an area that is undergoing the early stages of gentrification. The apartment is a reflection of the transformation. It is located on the second floor of an old building that has undergone rehab. The studio contains all of the necessary comforts for a vacation stay. There is enough room to move around and the facilities are clean. Of great importance to us is a strong Internet connection and I can report that the signal is strong and stable. Shopping for food items was within a short walking distance and a multitude of trinkets geared towards cruise ship passengers could be purchased steps from the door. As you might expect, the restaurants in the immediate area are largely for the boat people but a healthy walk to the larger commercial section widens the options.
The property manager, Olenka, started her life in the US and is a native English speaker. She and her husband are very responsive to your needs. Their office is located directly around the corner from the apartment and they are there during working hours. Most of the cultural items worthy of a visit are located in the old part of town and within walking distance. There is no elevator in the building so it is not suitable for persons with physical limitations. We enjoyed our time in Montevideo and the apartment provided us the base from which to explore the city. We did all of our sightseeing during daylight hours and felt relatively secure. In venturing out at night, I have the same recommendation for this and several other South American cities we have visited, it is better to take a cab. Montevideo is worthy of visit in understanding cultural differences with our own.
Not having been to Montevideo before, this was an exploration trip. The primary thing I look for in a place to stay is comfort, safety, livability, privacy, and livability. I could have stayed at a hotel in the area but the trip would not have been the same. This spacious studio gave me a chance to learn about the various barrios in Montevideo, access public transportation, and do some sightseeing. If you are into museums and parks, statues and food, there is plenty of that close. If you are into walking and the beaches they are here. If you like architecture and a mix of old and new they are here. I stayed in the apartment two weeks and got a good chance to see the city and enjoy the friendliness of the people who are good with visitors who don't have a mastery of their language. The apartment was quiet even though it fronts on a street and I never felt like it was not a safe or secure place to be. The managers were good about requests I made or questions I had. Doing your research and determining what you want out of your trip and the place you stay is the wise thing to do. I felt the studio gave me a chance to see what it is like to live here, and gave me a home base from which to see the entire city. It was nice to go into the same coffee shop , Punta Ballena, each morning and get to the point that the folks there welcomed me as someone who was living here and not just off the cruise ship. The Mercado next door has great steaks and I shopped at the Maxi-Frog for basic groceries to keep costs manageable. The Old City, by the way, is in a state of flux and there are new restored buildings as the one I was in, and also run down structures that need work. I found that there are plenty of things to do if you seek them out. Sarandi street, within a quarter mile walk, has all kinds of shopping and outdoor entertainment. Looking at the studio as a whole I feel it was a great value and offers a single or couple or even a family with one child a good place to live while they explore what Montevideo has to offer. In the end, your trip is what you make it. Having a nice place to stay made it easier for me to concentrate on sightseeing and relaxing. The managers of the place are very upfront about it and will answer questions you might have about the studio , the city, or the culture here. It was nice to know that I had someone to go too if I needed too.
