We stayed at the Villa Lalai for a month, and thoroughly enjoyed every day.
When we first arrived at Ercan Airport we were picked up by a taxi which had been arranged together with our hire car, both from Cyprus Pines by Carol the villa owner. We were very impressed with Cyprus Pines, who helped us in any way they could, during our month stay.We can only say good things about theVilla.Everything we needed was there at our disposal,it was very clean and well maintained, with plenty of linen, towels, crockery glassware and utensils. The swimming pool which was cleaned so often, was a delight,my grandchildren who had never experienced their own pool were hardly ever out of it.
There are so many places to visit in Northern Cyprus, you could not possibly get bored, and shopping in Kyrenia is a terrific day out, with so much to buy at reasonable prices, and a lot of the supermarkets were better stocked than where I live in Ireland. We found one of the best fish restaurants there, if you like fish.Which was The Lagoon, But there are also many other good quality restaurants.
If you have never been to Northern Cyprus, its well worth the visit, also you will not get much better than staying at the Villa Lalai.
Thank you Carol for a Lovely holiday.
We spent a wonderful 2 weeks at Villa Lalai. It's spacious, comfortable, quiet and private. The swimming pool is delightful and the views are lovely.
The only minor issue is the air conditioning - it struggles to keep the place cool (at least in July) and we were made very conscious of the expense involved. The pool does help though!
Overall a great experience and thoroughly recommended.
Villa Lalai was the location for our (2 adults & 3 kids) two week holiday this August (2016). Carol had kindly organised our taxi pick up from Larnaca airport (and our car hire) which was very helpful. In fact all our communications with Carol where very helpful, her replies to questions are very swift and the entire process of booking and receiving information was super efficient, totally stress free.
We arrived at the villa location in the early hours, it was pitch black and as we pulled off the main road onto the gravel track which leads upto the villa neighbourhood I have to admit there where a few glances exchanged around the taxi, 'where on earth are we?!'
Come the morning, walking out onto the rear patio overlooking the beautiful pool and gazing up at the mountain back drop of the garden we all realised we had come to a little slice of heaven.
The villa is well maintained, spacious and with all the necessities you could ever want or need. The rear garden and pool is wonderful and we spent part of everyday just relaxing and playing in and around the fantastic pool.
Mike and Lynn who look after the villa for Carol came to say hello and make sure everything was as required. They where very welcoming and very informative and responded to any requests very effectively. There are many local eateries, Mike had given us a 'what's on' guide that was really useful and we just choose places to eat from there and cross referenced with trip advisor / Google reviews. We pretty much tried every supermarket and our favourite was SAH on the road to Kyrenia, it's relatively new and reasonably priced, our kids referred to it's look & feel as Waitrose!
Car hire is essential whether it be simply for shopping trips or getting out and about and exploring what this gorgeous area of Cyprus has to offer.
If you are after a 'get away from it all' type holiday in beautiful surroundings in a lovely villa with a fantastic pool while dealing with a very helpful and informative owner then I would without hesitation recommend Villa Lalai.
Our holiday was excellent and we where so very sad to have to leave.
Thank you Carol for the rental of your wonderful villa.
We stayed at Villa Lalai for 10 days in June 2016.
The booking process was straightforward and Carol provided useful information on the villa and the surrounding area which was sent in advance. She also was very helpful in organising the booking of the airport taxi service and rental of a hire car (the service from Cyprus Pines was faultless!). This meant everything was sorted before we arrived at Larnaca airport and we could relax from day one. Mike and Lyn, who came over to introduce themselves on the first day, were very helpful. They gave us lots of useful information on local supermarkets etc, and it was comforting to know that if we needed some advice or help they were nearby (fortunately we didn’t have to trouble them!).
The villa is just as described on the HomeAway site, well equipped with everything you could possibly need. It was around 40C while we were at the villa so it was great to have air conditioning in the bedrooms and a water cooler in the kitchen! It’s worth mentioning the outlook onto the Besparmak mountains which was really lovely. Sitting on the terrace watching the wildlife was one of the highlights of our time at the villa.
The villa is situated in a small development which was very quiet (just what we wanted), but at the same time is not far from the main road, with easy access to all parts of northern Cyprus for those that want to explore. We made good use of the hire car and visited a lot of places. Outside the big conurbations (Kyrenia and Famagusta) the roads were really quiet and a pleasure to drive on.
Overall we had a very peaceful and relaxing break - which was just what we wanted. Normally we're ready to go home when we get to the end of the holiday but we both wished we could have stayed longer.
We arrived in the middle of the night in a taxi from Larnaca airport and were very tired so it was a quick cuppa and bed. But next morning, oh the delight in waking up and exploring this beautiful villa. Thanks for the eggs, milk and bacon, really needed that first morning, and the water butt in the kitchen was great, our breakfasts were spent on the front patio. After delivery of the hired car we went off to Tempo the local supermarket, giving my husband a heart attack by spending nearly 400 Turkish lira, not very much in stg!!! Then back to that glorious pool, which I admit I spent most of my time in.
The villa itself is immaculate, everything you need, all you need to buy is your food and wine of course!
My favourite part of the day was sitting on the patio glass of wine in my hand looking up at the village in the mountains and every four hours hearing the call for prayer.
Mike and Lyn are there if needed but thankfully everything was fine. My only regret was having to come home. Fingers crossed for next year.
Only one point the beautiful stairs are a bit of a struggle if you have difficulty climbing. I managed them just so anyone with any major problems would not get up them. Other than that, just enjoy the beautiful villa and especially the wonderful sights, sounds and people of Northern Cyprus, we will be back!!!
My partner and I spent two weeks in Carols Villa end of October / begging of November.
On arrival at Villa Lalai it was exactly as described and shown in the pictures. It was spotlessly clean and incredibly well provisioned. The villa itself is wonderful, with plenty of space and genuinely warm homely feel.
The best part of the villa was certainly the pool area and where we spent the majority of our time when at the villa. It is truly breathtaking, during our two weeks from the pool itself I think we saw three people. The Sheppard who we saw most days moving his sheep and a couple of random walkers. The view overlooking the mountains is magnificent and the location is so peaceful, you literally feel in the middle of no where.
Both Carol and Mike (Property Manager) could not have done more to help us with anything. Their knowledge of the local area etc. was invaluable to our visit and any questions were answered promptly. Carol went out of her way to help me when I had an issue that I managed to create for myself and resolved it from the UK. Mike gave us a lot of local knowledge and introduced us to his favourite band Grommelar (the best band in TRNC) who play at The Roots Bar (Highly Recommended).
We especially enjoyed our trips to:
Farmagusta/Gazimagusa, seeing Varosha is quite amazing and the beach is stunning with lovely warm water.
Kyrennia/Girne, quite surreal considering the average level of development how many fancy hotels and restaurants there are.
St. Hilarion Castle, an amazing experience with a lot of walking, remember water and probably don't go on the hottest day of your stay.
Restaurant wise, all the local recommended places are quite good. I think our best meal was at The Coconut which is walk-able across the road. The others The Gorgeous (European), Punjab (Indian), Sea Breeze (Turkish) and Bar B (European) were all memorable.
To finish I can 100% say I would recommend the villa to friends, family or anyone. It is lovely, in a beautiful setting, in a very interesting country.
