Lovely apartment in perfect location.

A very well equipped apartment with secure parking and very convenient for restaurants and shops. Within two minutes of the VR motorway yet in a quiet village location. The decription of the property is accurate and comprehensive. The owners father meet guests at the airport and demonstrate all the facilities of the apartment and parking arrangements. With the nearness of the VR motorway it was possible to be almost anywhere on the island within a reasonable time. The restaurant 'A Central' within two minutes walk is very highly recommended.

Spacieux et confortable

Appartement agréable et grand pour 4 personnes.

Bien placé sur l'île par rapport aux randonnées que nous voulions faire.

A proximité des commerces dans Caniço.

Maurice est venu nous accueillir à l'aéroport et nous a donné toutes les explications nécessaires.

A cette époque il ne faisait pas très chaud dans l'appartement, mais possibilité d'utiliser les 2 radiateurs électriques d'appoint.

Donc rien à redire, c'était parfait pour nous !

Lovely apartment with a great location

A lovely apartment set in a very convenient location for all your needs.We found the best place for wifi was above the supemarket in the open plan cafe, we were never asked to obtain drinks, good wifi reception everytime.

The bus to Funchal is as previously mentioned less than 100 mtrs away and runs I believe hourly, we found though to see all the island and do lots of levada walks in every part of the island it was more convenient to hire a car and as there was 4 of us the cost also probably worked out cheaper.

Nice homely apartment

Lots of space,clean,very well equipped, small balcony and very close to shops including a very good supermarket and bus stop to Funchal.Very comfortable.A reminder to the elderly Madeira has a lot of steep hills.Would recommend this property for a comfortable stay.

nice and quiet appartment, central location

Highly recommended.

The appartment is nice and spacious (for 4 people), was clean and fresh at our arrival. It has hardwood floor in the living room and bedrooms, and tiles elsewhere.

Fully furnished kitchen, fitted with every ustensil you might think of.

Mr De Nobrega's father was extremely obliging, came to the airport to meet us, provided us with some tips about Caniço's conveniences, stood by for any assistance about the appartment.

Like many others before us, we loved the (little) balcony for relaxing times in the morning or evening, with a view on the sea and the Desertas Islands. Don't dream of an unobstructed view wide open to the sea, though. The view is actually what you see on one of the pictures on the site (the one showing a street, red car, and building in at a distance).

The village had everything we could have wanted (bakery, supermarket, restaurants, ...) within easy walking distance.

However, the free wifi access on the village plazza didn't work for us, we had to find other providers (for a fee).

A note of caution, having an underground parking spot is very good, but the access, especially from/to level -2 is extremely narrow and windy. The smaller your car, the better!

We would definitely go back to the same place should we visit Madera again. We haven't used the bus system during this stay. If you have a car, the appartment is close to an entrance to the highway, which will get you anywhere on the island.

We loved the fesh tuna from the local supermarket, and had a lot of it.

Great place to escape a British winter!

This apartment is a real home from home - extremely well-equipped, spacious, clean and easy to maintain. We stayed 8 weeks from mid-January to early March and really enjoyed life in Canico. For 2 months the temperature ranged between 18 and 22 and the occasional rain showers were generally fleeting. Residents in the apartment block were very friendly and the town has a good range of shops, restaurants, etc. We recommend La Terrasse in particular for well-presented, good value fish dishes.

The regular bus service from the end of the road is great for trips to Funchal to do the tourist trail. We can also recommend the Pride of Madeira minibus tours to see the rest of this beautiful island. The office is just around the corner from the apartment and the pick-up is from outside the door. Car-hire is expensive and Madeira's roads not for the faint-hearted but we got around easily by bus, sometimes hopping from one to another in Funchal.

It's an easy walk down the old road and a sign-posted path to the seafront in Canico de Baixo but, unless you're hoping to improve your fitness, you'll probably want to get a bus or taxi rather than face the steep climb back to Canico. Gluttons for punishment, we made life-time friends with the owner of a bar halfway back up the path. It has a huge terrace with great views of the Ilhas Desertas. The apartment balcony has the same wonderful sea and island views. It is quite small but south-facing and a real suntrap.

We also took a short bus ride from the town to Assomada church where you can pick up the levada trail. The local people guided our way and the views of the valley up there are stunning. We left our walking guidebook in the apartment so enjoy!

Thanks to Roger and his father who offered us this apartment at a great rate for a long stay. (Some friends of ours paid more for a fortnight's B & B than we paid for 2 months of spacious luxury!) Whether you're looking for just a week or two or can enjoy a leisurely winter stay in your retirement, you really can't go wrong in this great apartment in Madeira.
