This apartment is in a great location - it's only a couple of minutes walk from Metro stops Bonne Nouvelle and Fabourg St. Denis. The area is very safe even if you're walking back past midnight as a family. The neighboring streets are full of bars, cafes, boulangeries, Turkish eat outs, grocers, and supermarkets. And the best part is some of the eateries are open till 2am!
Taine welcomed us warmly to the apartment and helped us with our itinerary for the 6 days we were in Paris. She had maps and brochures for all the key places and even gave us tips on how to make the best use of our time.
The Apartment is on the 4th floor of a 19th century building easily accessed by a really small lift that accommodates a max of 2 ppl but that didn't really bother us. The apartment is reasonably spacious and really well lit with lots of large sized windows letting in fresh air. Taine lives in this apartment, so it's a fully functioning place that shows the owner's quirky taste in furnishing and decoration.
The bedrooms were quite comfortable - the 2nd bedroom contains bunk beds which our children really enjoyed. The one minus point we found was that there were no fans in the bedrooms, and as we were there during summer, the nights got a tad uncomfortable on a couple of occasions. The kitchen is well equipped with all utensils a family needs while on a holiday. The bathroom and toilet are separate. To take a shower, you step onto a bathtub, which wasn't a problem for us at all. However, if you're uncomfortable with having to climb out of a bathtub after a shower, it might be an issue.
We highly recommend this apartment as a wonderful place to stay during your trip to Paris. And, Taine is a wonderful host who was easily contactable and was keen to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Thank you Taine!!
We stayed here last week. 5 of us with 3 children aged 11,7 and 5. We enjoyed it immensely. Enough space for 5, everything you need is there. Designed in a much more interesting way than most holiday lets - suits Paris very well. 2 metro stops within 5 min walk. Loads of great restaurants around the corner. Got a bit noisy on Friday night but apart from this very quiet all week. Taine looked after us very well and even forwarded our stranded Mickey Mouse ears to the UK! Highly recommended.
Nous avons passé un séjour très agréable dans ce charmant appartement. Taïne nous a accueillis et indiqué les endroits sympathiques du quartier (boulangerie, resto ...).
L'appartement est conforme à la description.
Nous y reviendrons avec plaisir.
Täine is one of those generous souls who opens her home to travellers. And this is no ordinary home; it is beautiful and artful and adventurous. What a joy to return home after a day of galleries, museums and cafés. There is so much light in this long, slender apartment that hugs what seems like a dozen windows - such a delight when we were there in spring. Situated in a lively, bohemian and ethnic 10th arrondissement, one can enjoy a richer experience of Paris while still being very central. Even as a family of five with young children the apartment worked very well, though I imagine it would be even more enjoyable with less worry about the damage little hands can do to Täine's decor. The nearby metro stations will take you everywhere. If the hurdy-gurdy door-bell brings a smile to your face as it play L'Internationale, you will know this is the apartment for you.
The apartment is really beautiful, the owner is an artist and every little detail has a story. We spent hours just looking around at all the interesting objects she has created or collected. Very comfortable and clean, it feels like a real home and at the same time truly Parisian. The area is a mixed bag but that's what makes it charming - you can have a meal in the afternoon or late in the evening when everything else is closed and you will pay half the price compared to more upmarket areas. If you like bars, look nowhere else because this is the cool and up-and-coming part of Paris - a bit like Shoreditch in London ten years ago, still slightly seedy but lively and vibrant. It's also centrally located and many things are in walking distance, not to mention that we walked from Gard du Nord where our train arrived! Expect to have a bit of noise late at night from the bars, especially on Friday and Saturday, but that's a fair price to pay for staying in such a nice property and an interesting location. On the whole a positive experience and a pleasant stay, highly recommended!
We just returned to the US from a 3 week trip to Europe which started in Paris at this lovely apartment. We are a family of 5 (husband and wife with 3 teenage daughters) and the apartment was the perfect size for us. We loved the neighborhood and took advantage of a number of the local shops and markets. It is very close to a number of metro lines and every morning (after our expresso's at the local cafe's) we were quickly on a metro and off to see Paris. At night the apartment was a wonderful home base and made us feel at home.
Taine was very easy to work with and helpful in getting us set up and going upon our arrival. Next time we are in Paris we will definitely check out the availability of this apartment before looking anywhere else.
