We spent two nights here over Memorial Day weekend, and absolutely loved it! It is close enough to Santa Fe, yet amazingly secluded. I can’t remember the last time I have seen so many stars or heard the deafening silence of nothingness.
The property was exactly what we needed. We cooked over the outdoor fire pit, and enjoyed the relaxing breeze. We will certainly be back!
Wesley, thanks for the kind words! Yes, the stars, the quiet and sometimes the coyotes at night are favorite experiences there! Glad you had fun and you are certainly welcome back!
Peaceful secluded getaway!
We really enjoyed our stay! This property is just as described in the owner's listing. It is remote, about 25 minutes from Santa Fe. But, the seclusion was just what we desired. We spent an entire day just wandering around the property and area. It was so relaxing. The fire pit outside was a wonderful amenity. While you must be smart and safe about outdoor burning, this was one of our favorite parts of the experience.
The home was very clean. We are clean freaks and this home met every expectation we had. We were in the region for the Balloon Fiesta, in Albuquerque. This home was about 55 minutes from Balloon Fiesta Park. It was within 25 minutes of awesome shopping and dining in Santa Fe. We felt the location gave us the best of both worlds. Don't sell Santa Fe short. What a wonderful city! We did not have time to fully enjoy the downtown. We will be back to explore the Historic District further. The dining, in Santa Fe, wow! Just wow!
Then, the Turquoise Trail. Highway 14. Drive it. Visit Madrid. Have a beer. Eat. Shop. It is all good. This home was really nice and we loved our stay. If you are considering a visit to the region, book this property now! (I would recommend a four wheel drive / truck / suv as the last mile or so of the drive to the house is dirt road and somewhat bumpy, but it is easy to travel.)
Steve, I'm writing a belated response to your comments now! Wow what a great write up on everything! And thanks for mentioning the carefulness required with outdoor fires. It's a potential problem everywhere. Love to have you back!
It was perfect.
Phil, we're so glad you came and took the time to write just those three words! Glad you enjoyed! Julie
Exactly what we were hoping for!!
We were extremely pleased when we approached the casita and saw how very private and beautiful the setting was. We were just as happy when we entered the casita as it was just what we were hoping for...quaint, comfortable, full of southwestern charm and extremely clean!
Coming to New Mexico to get away from the Michigan winter weather, it was not real warm when we were there, but the sun was out 90% of the time so it felt much warmer and we were able to do a lot of hiking. The casita is not a long drive to downtown Santa Fe where we enjoyed browsing the seemingly unending art and craft shops. We also spent some time in the quaint little town of Madrid; be sure to visit Sugarman's, a unique chocolate shop featuring a variety of delicious and exotic chocolate concoctions. At the end of a long day hiking or shopping, we spent the evenings in front of the kiva fireplace reading and relaxing with a glass (or 2 ) of wine. What a perfect way to end the days!
We would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a cozy, private, and conveniently located vacation spot.

Lenore and Wayne,
I love your details! We are going to our casita next week so you have helped US plan our trip!! So glad you enjoyed your time. Come back anytime!
Rustic and relaxing
We loved George and Julie's Casita! We were looking for a New Years trip that could be partly spent exploring Santa Fe and partly spent relaxing in front of a fire at night. This was just perfect! It's close enough to be able to access everything but removed enough away to feel like you are leaving it all behind. The place was very comfortable and and cozy and the such a beautiful setting to see sunrise, sunset and to take some strolls.
Kelly, I'm so glad your visit was nice--hope you had a great multiple birthday celebration! I'm sure the drive from Denver was amazing! You are welcome back anytime--Julie
Casita was very comfortable and well equipped. Very quiet. We enjoyed hearing the coyotes in the evening. Was close to Santa Fe yet far enough out to be private. Would definitely stay there again!
