Needs a bit of TLC
Had to clean home to rid it of a lot of stink bugs inside once arrived which included vacuuming the couches and curtains in almost every room. Wasn’t very comfortable with serving food with the bugs everywhere and the smell of them was even worse. Had to get candles just to hide the smell for short time we were there. The upstairs dryer didn’t work and one of the showers downstairs didn’t work. The hand soaps were watered down and carpets were dirty. Hand soaps are cheap and should be replaced. The home is nice and roomy and with some TLC it could be very nice.
the house was great, lots of space , loved having washer and drier. wished the trees didn't block the view so much but all in all a great stay. would do it again.
Awesome, huge property
We did not have any trouble getting to the property using maps on iPhone or the Waze app. It is fairly secluded, and the last 1-2 miles to get there are some dirt roads and are pretty bumpy. The property was cleaned well. The house was huge and could fit a ton of people. Our group only had 7 people and we had so much space. The kitchen was spacious and had all the basics. There were paper towels, dish soap, and pods for the dishwasher. All the bathrooms had hand soap. There were clean linens for all the beds and extras in some of the closets. There were many bath towels and wash cloths.
Firewood was provided and a nice big fire pit outside with log seats. There were 2 refrigerators and 2 sets of washers and dryers. Sadly we ran out of time and didn't actually get to use the hot tub, as we were only there from Friday-Sunday. There is a nice little yard and a very nice view of the mountains. Some of the view is blocked by the trees from certain areas of the decks out back, but it's still nice. The sun room with a circle table was good for playing board and card games. The game-room which is in the garage was fun and it included an air hockey table, ping pong table, foosball table, and pool table. The town of Luray and the luray caverns are about 15ish minutes from the property. There are some restaurants and shopping there. I believe there was a Walmart and Food Lion for grocery stuff. Overall, it was a really fun time and awesome place.
We had a great stay, close to hiking and the Luray Caverns. The property itself had plenty of room to accommodate a large group. The game room was fun for the kids. I was very disappointed that the view has not been maintained and is about 75% obstructed by overgrown trees. The ceilings had some cobwebs and the walls needed some attention (peeling wallpaper). For the price I would have expected a little more; especially with the practice of charging per person instead of a flat rate for the house; this made it add up quickly to an expensive stay. For the price, I also would have expected that they take care of the garbage instead of asking for an additional $5 per bag.
Girls hiking weekend
This home was very spacious for our group of mothers and 20something year old daughters. The beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the large kitchen table and island and were able to prep all our meals with the provided kitchen ware. Our only drawback was the hot tub, due to the bromine, which was not pleasurable to be in. It made you cough and become congested. There was a sheet in the house that warned of these side effects but it was still a bummer. We would have liked more outdoor deck space with a table and chairs to enjoy the view and be outside, maybe a gas grill would be a nice addition. Overall our group enjoyed our hiking and group time at the house.
Our group was 5 adult and 4 kids. House and beds were never ending and tons of room. The kids had a blast in the game room, on the swing set and making smores. The house definitely needs some TLC and some major cleaning. If you are going for the view, rent something else. The view is not the same in the pictures. Trees have taken over the scenic view. If you plan on using the bunk beds be prepared to make those. They are not made. Having to pay or take your own trash is crazy when you pay that much to rent. The drive in is long but the road was not in bad shape. We pulled a small trailer and had no issues. If you take a dog, it is a perfect location, no traffic and the deck is enclosed.
