Open-style loft on the top floor of old Outremont building. Big skylight, and windows onto trees. Close walking distance to trendy Mile-End cafés and restos, as well as beautiful Outremont parks.
The space has one queen-size, with the option to sleep more on the couches in the living room.
I live here with my girlfriend, but she has moved to Scandinavia so I let the space while I go abroad. I have been renovating for a few years, and have tried to modernize without affecting the area's natural historical charm.
The space is built around a very large skylight, with large windows giving onto treetops all around. There is no air conditioning as natural breezes do a pretty good job of cooling off the space at night.
Guests can have access to the whole apartment, with WIFI.
I won't be present during guest's stay, but will try to be present to handover keys whenever possible :)
If you like being close to everything but away from the hustle-bustle, open-style loft living but with the privacy of being up in the trees, and old cachet but not to the extent that doorways are crooked -- then this is your place.
This apartment straddles 2 areas: the trendy Mile-End and the manicured Outremont. Whichever direction you chose to wander in, you will arrive at a targeted destination within minutes:
- Hipster Mile-End shops, cafés, restos on Saint-Viateur
- Outremont's stately homes, parks and cafés on Bernard Ave and west
- Little-Italy's farmers market
- Mount-Royal Park's walking and jogging trails
- Plateau-Mont-Royal's storied streets and nooks
- McGill Ghetto's vibrant scene
We're also close to regular as well as 3 organic supermarkets, 2 wine stores, and all other amenities.
Basically, we're central. If walking isn't your thing then there's a Bixi stand at the corner of the street on Querbes (public bikes), as well as easy bus access only blocks away: the 51 on Laurier goes crosstown, and 80 on Parc goes downtown.
Key transfers are easily handled through neighbors and/or friends in the area.
DISCLAIMER: I live with a blond husky. We try our very best to clean thoroughly but unfortunately there is always the odd hair that escapes our clean! As such this listing is probably not ideal for people with acute allergies to dog hair or dander.
NOTE: for guests traveling with their pets, we prefer to not host cats and we prefer to only host one dog at a time rather than pairs or more. Sorry, but two dogs together have more fun but they also tend to bother the neighbors.
