Appartement typique très agréable avec sa petite terrasse. La situation est idéale : à la fois proche du centre et au calme. Très facile d'accès par le métro Martim Muniz, il constitue une base parfaite pour explorer la ville.
Parfait pour découvrir Lisbonne en famille ou avec des amis.
This spacious and extremely well equipped garden flat, provides a great base from which to explore the exciting city of Lisbon.
Easily reached from the Metro station, we were warmly welcomed by Paulo; who directed us to the local supermarket and the much appreciated elevators up to the castle, and down into town. Ken's local restaurant recommendation was spot on.
There is so much to see and do in this diverse city.The hop on and off river cruise provides a good introduction. A day trip to Sintra, with it's fairy-tale palaces, is a must.

Our first time in Lisbon. This apartment was a delight. It was very spacious and well equipped. Expect traditional, not minimalistic posh. We like traditional and we're certainly not dissapointed. Very well equipped and obviously a home.
We took the metro from the airport, very easy. The steps up to the apartment were a bit daunting when we arrived, but we soon learned how to avoid them. Paula was there to welcome us and explain everything, she even had a bottle of wine waiting and the travel cards for buses, metro, trains etc which you charge up as you need them. We got 72hr tickets for the Yellow sightseeing bus. €35, exceptional value. Hop on hop of on all there bus routes, 2 tram routes, river Tagus cruise and several other discounts. The river Tagus cruise is €19 on it's own. We made full use of this and saw the city from end to end and side to side over 3 days. Sinatra is a must and very easy to get to by train €4.50 return. Up to 75 trains a day. We went two days running but need to go back to finish it off. All in all a very good experience. Please wear good sensible shoes if you are walking a lot. Portugese cobbles are not the best.
We spent three weeks in this apartment in January/February. We found it to be very comfortable, well equipped and well maintained. It's perfect for two people; two friends (not a couple) joined us for a few days, and there was plenty of space for the four of us. (Note, two of the bedrooms do not have windows to the outside.) The support from Ken and Carole (the owners) and Paula and Paulo (who live downstairs) was outstanding. Mouraria is a very central part of town, with good transport links close by (though climbing steps is pretty inevitable in central Lisbon, and necessary here). Carole and Ken's recommended local restaurants were ace, and we ate very well elsewhere, as well as in the apartment itself. There's lots to see and do in Lisbon, with the Gulbenkian, the Berardo collection in Belem, the Oceanarium, and (for the guys) a Sporting Lisbon home match being among our highlights. Trips out of town (we visited Cascais, Sintra and Queluz, all excellent) are easily done via public transport. Sadly the January rain didn't let us make much use of the terrace, but both the kitchen/dining room and the living room are lovely spaces for hanging out. This makes a wonderful base for a holiday.
Comfortable, spacious apartment with well equipped kitchen and a lovely outdoor terrace in the heart of the old part of Lisbon. Great restaurants on the doorstep and easy access to public transport and Lisbon's cultural treasures. Ken and Carol were friendly and welcoming as were Paula and Paulo, the on-site caretakers.We will be back.
We were the first to stay after major renovations to the apartment and building. Its been done very tastefully and nice to be able to stay in an authentic old Portuguese building rather than a sterile modern hotel. The apartment is very central , in the old quarter with narrow cobbled streets, alley ways and quirky steps ascending to the castle. However there is a new lift (free!) for those of us of a certain age ,which takes you from the bottom of town up to 5-10 mins stroll from the apartment. There is another lift from a new supermarket than goes on up to the castle.
The kitchen is well equiped and we enjoyed a few meals in. The new suoermarket was well stocked with everything one needed including some very nice wines.
What makes this super apartment very special is the patio garden with an orange and lemon tree. A lovely place for breakfast or to relax with a drink after a hard days sightseeing.
We will be back - there is still so much to do and see!
