Great place to stay!

The Blue House is very inviting. We especially loved sitting in the cooler evenings on the front porch, watching the world go by! Our two grandsons enjoyed having enough space where they could each do their own thing and the adults had plenty of space to stretch out as well. Great location, close to metro, restaurants, Union Station. Uber is super cheap and easy to use.

Short walk to rains, bike renal , and groceries. I highly recommend this home for rent. Very clean.

Everything we hoped for and more

My family and I (wife and 3 daughters - 20, 17 & 12) recently stayed in the blue house during our July 2017 vacation to DC and we all thoroughly loved the house. The location is fantastic, the house was well appointed for our needs and the furnishings are what my kids described as "cool". In addition, my dealings with the owner before, during and after the trip were fantastic (she is a wonderful lady!).

House: The house is located in an old well maintained neighborhood one block from Union Station and about 3-4 blocks from a neighborhood grocery store. The neighborhood and surrounding area seemed to be very safe and the number of people who walked the sidewalks day and night confirmed that to me. The house is old so the floors creak, which adds charm to the house itself IMO. It was clean, beds were comfortable and overall had everything that we needed aside from groceries!

Location: It is quite literally less than a 5 minute walk from Union Station which in turn is about a $2.00 metro ride to the Smithsonian and National Mall. The close proximity of transportation cannot be overstated. We drove to DC and didn't get into our car again until we left which was a great thing because DC traffic is awful and availability of parking is even worse.

Parking: There is no parking at the house so you have to park at the Union Station parking garage. This will be an additional cost but again well worth the money. One thing to note when parking at Union Station - if you have a cargo carrier on top of your car you will need to remove it or your car will be too tall to park there (lesson learned for us). Again not a big deal just need to plan for it. The owner does a great job of explaining the parking in her welcome letter.

Overall: This house made our vacation even better. After a long day on your feet it was nice to come "home" instead of piling into a hotel room. Having some room to spread out and relax was a part of the trip I hadn't really considered beforehand but was a real positive once we got there. We went to the grocery store and bought snacks and breakfast stuff which made our mornings easier as we prepared for the day. In the end our family felt like this was a home away from home which in turn added to our overall vacation experience.

I HIGHLY recommend the Blue House and it would be difficult to convince us to stay anywhere else if our family came back to DC on vacation.

Great location!

This home is close to everything! If you rent the DC bikes, you can easily get to the Memorials and the Smithsonian Museums. It has easy access to restaurants and grocery stores. Worked really well for a family of four adults. We enjoyed our stay.

Lovely and conveniently located gem

This really is a great place to stay if you want to be close to Union Station and attractions in the heart of D.C. As a family of 6 it was a little tight, but still very comfortable for an urban townhouse. With our youngest being 8, it was perfect, but the narrow stairs may not be the best for wobbly toddlers or crawling babies. Furnished beautifully. Everything worked - nothing broken. We'd absolutely go back and highly recommend it. (Stay in April 2016.)
