Very nice home but roaches everywhere. Balconies unsafe
My 11 month old granddaughter fell off the 2nd story outdoor balcony on her head and sustained a fractured skull. Several of the spindles were rusted out and she leaned on one and fell 8.5 feet and landed on her head. She spent the night in the hospital. Ruined some of our vacation days. This was a traumatic event for everyone that was sitting on the patio and witnessed it. There were 6 people on the deck that witnessed the fall. It happened so fast and absaloutely nothing we could do. Tabitha did come by and check on her. She brought over a repair man to fix the 8 or so wooden spindles that were loose and dangerous. The spindles were held in place by brad nails or staples. Hard to tell. Next day guest bumped chair into the repaired spindle and knocked it loose again. 2 of them fell out. The repair man used screws that were too small and wouldn't hold. I requested that the owner contact me and he never did. I did get a call from the Homeowners insurance. This event caused a lot of worry and stress to all 14 adults in the house. There were several cockroaches on all 3 levels. Every guest had to check their beds before getting in them. German cockroaches. Hideaway beds were horrible. Springs missing and FILTHY and very uncomfortable. Kitchen table chair legs were loose and dangerous. Just needed to be tightened. Patio chair on second level broken and guest fell out of it. Bottom level back door wouldn't close unless you used the deadbolt. 2nd level bedroom balcony doors wouldn't close. Bench on 3rd floor balcony was broken. Lights out everywhere. Just needed bulbs. 2nd floor balcony window busted due to bbq pit heat from previous guest a month ago. Should have been fixed by now. We stayed 7 nights in this house and really started seeing small things that were wrong with this place every day. This is a very nice house but it needs someone to care for it. Needs fresh paint job. WIFI very inconsistent. Tabitha is a very nice lady but someone needs to spend a little money on this property and give it new life. Beach access is about 100 to 150 yards from house. But you must walk 3 flights of 7 steps to beach carrying all of your gear. Needs ramp access in my opinion. This was grandaughters first vacation and was supposed to be special. Word of caution no matter where you go. Watching her fall and thinking about her not being there is horrible. Please don't assume it's all good. I believe this accident could have been prevented. Thanks for reading.
great 50th anniversarie
everything great untill a/c went out. loved the house location and beach.
Great place and great mgmt!
We had 5 families stay and we loved this place. Short walk to beach and pool. We had a couple of minor maintenance problems but mgmt fixed them immediately after we reported them. The place was clean and nice. Management was so kind every time we spoke and a pleasure to deal with. I would definitely stay there again with a large group!
Fun for all
This place was great for our large group of friends and family. Everything was nice and clean and the location was great! We would definitely stay here again
We are so glad that you had a good trip. We hop to see you again soon.
House needs treating for roaches-garage door opener will not work and No pot holders and it is not 50 steps to gate to beachfront
All of our homes are on routine pest control. We had no had any complaint of this in the past 7 years and we wish you would have reported it during your stay like your contract requires so we could investigate. We did send pest control out after your review was posted and they sprayed again but did not find anything. We had also explained to you that because the private lower level studio is accessed through the garage, the garage door has been turned off years ago to make sure that it is not parked in or left open. We do not include garage access in the ad for the home. We discussed this with you at length and while I understand that you did not agree with it, nonetheless, it is that way for a reason and it is not broken. The homes are individually owned and the owners have the right to modify their home in the way they see fit. We cannot force them to change it. We have 4 pot holders in the drawer closest to the refrigerator and I have searched our ad and nowhere does it say that this home is 50 steps to the beach. VRBO gives you the geographical location based on longitude and latitude that way it cannot be inaccurate.
We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay.
- Beach Luxury Vacations
Family vacation for 20
Nice home and nice neighborhood. Plenty of rooms and beds for all of us to have our own “space”.
The walk to the beach is farther than the listing states, especially with kids. There is NO private beach access. We had to go put up canopy at 5:30am to get close to the water.
I’m my opinion, this proprty is not well maintained overall. There is a broken window, the glass is broken and a burn on the house from the grill. There is a burn in the carpet upstairs bedroom and the blinds have been chewed by a dog in upstairs bathroom. The property manger is aware of this from a previous guest., but it has not been replaced, you can tell it has been that way for a long time. Several lights did not work and no bulbs on sight to replace.
The air conditioner could not keep the home at 72. We left the thermostat set at 72, as per the “rules”. The thermostat read 76 the entire week. We had to buy 2 box fans to help keep the 3rd floor bearable cool to sleep up there. The property manager did send a repairman to check the unit, but he stated there wasn’t much he could do because the house is too big for the only 2 units there.
The pull out beds don’t really have mattresses, it’s like a mat over springs. We had to buy 2 air mattresses for kids to sleep on instead of the pull outs.
There isn’t enough toilet paper or paper towels on site. You have to bring or buy your own.
The backyard and surrounding area of the house isn’t maintained, compared to the other houses in that neighborhood. There are old dead plants and containers scattered about the rear of the house. It was not an inviting place to sit and visit on any of the decks.
The pool was a short walk from the house that was nice.
The kids had a good time and it was a nice family vacation overall. We were just disappointed by the above things for the price we paid for the week.
We are very sorry regarding your disappointment. Every vacation rental will have wear and tear especially if a guest comes in and does not take care of it. We will not cancel on a guest that has a trip planned and tickets purchased for minor cosmetic issues caused by a prior guest. Our guest schedule and experience is very important to us and we will do anything we can to make sure they can be here and enjoy themselves.
- There is private beach access and we even give you pictures of the gate and the directions of how to get to it as well as the code. The beaches are busy because it is the middle of the summer and Destin’s busy season.
- The home is exactly where Vrbo states it is because the location is determined on longitude and latitude based on the address.
- You did let us know that the AC was running at 76° and we did have an AC vendor come out within 24 hours to take care of the issue. They took photos proving that you had many of the exterior doors open and that there was no way for the AC to keep up with multiple doors open and that the a/c was working correctly.
- Yes a guest cracked the exterior of a double pane window by moving the grill next to the house and using it. This happened prior to your check in and it takes time to get estimates and order a new window. Yes a guest accidentally dropped the iron and burnt a small iron shaped area in part of the carpet and the master bedroom.
Again we apologize that you did not enjoy your stay however I do feel that we have done everything in our ability to be communicative and to take care of any issues possible while you were in the home.
