Rocky Bar Retreat - 3 Bedrooms, 2 Full Baths, Located On Shenandoah River

We are located on 16 private acres in Elkton, Va. We have lovingly restored and furnished a farm house originally built in 1905. It is nestled in between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Shenandoah river. Sleeps up to eight comfortably. There are 3 bedrooms, a family room with a reclining couch, Kitchen, 2 full bathrooms, and a utility room with washer and dryer. Enjoy grilling on the back deck after you and yours spend a day on the river fishing, tubing, canoeing, swimming or just relaxing. You can follow the path down to the Shenandoah River for fishing, swimming, and tubing! Your private riverfront hangout spot is over 800 feet long! We have two fire pits (one by the river and one beside the back deck) for a night of S'mores. You can even pitch a tent and sleep along the river!

We are conveniently located just 10 minutes from Massanutten and 20 minutes from JMU ! The Shenandoah National Forest is close by as well. Our location is perfect for enjoying numerous outdoor activities, shopping, dining, or cruising around to check out VA wineries.

Great farm house on the river

It was a great weekend before the start of school. The house had everything we needed in the kitchen (K cup coffee maker), was clean, and the pac-man game was a hit. There was plenty of space for the kids to run safely around. We didn't use the grill but did enjoy eating outside and having a fire in the fire pit off the porch. Bring your own wood. The shed had tubes, life vests, and oars for the canoe, which my family really enjoyed. The whole property was surprisingly mosquito free! We also were close enough to the water park at Massanutten and the White Oak Lavender farm in Harrisonburg for a good day out. It is farm country and there was an occasional smell of farm on the property, mostly during the hottest part of the afternoon. And although Google says the driveway connects to Captain Yancey road, it does not. the driveway just goes to a neighbor's house. thanks for the great weekend!

A lovely river house

We had a wonderful time here! Everything was easy and relaxed. Close to a store for groceries, right on the river for daily, any-time swims, an easy drive to Shenandoah National Park. We would love to return here again.

This home renovation has been a joint effort for two brothers and their wives who have been in Virginia their entire lives. We had been shopping for a property like this for about six years altogether and finally found what we think is the perfect getaway spot so that we could explore the joys of sharing riverfront property in the mountains with our children and create memories that will last a lifetime. We are avid outdoorsmen and enjoy every minute we have in our mountain retreat. Every time we spend time here we don't want to leave, our kids just love it! We are not real estate moguls, just two families that love the mountains and plan to keep this property and pass it down to our children. We will continue to make improvements to the property as we go so that those of you that choose to stay here more than once will see something new each time you visit!

There are few opportunities to enjoy the river and rent a home all in one! You can launch a canoe right behind the house and float down to the public ramp conveniently located about a mile down the river. If you are feeling a bit more ambitious there are lengthier float trips that can be planned as well. The views are breathtaking and the fun never ends. From the kitchen window all you see is a beautiful cattle field with an unobstructed view of the mountains in the background. Get up in the morning and enjoy your coffee by the river or from the front porch while gazing upon the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains! We know that our home is the perfect place to have your next getaway. This is a place where you can kick back and truly relax in total privacy.

For us the two main benefits to having this property are 16 acres of privacy and 800 feet of river access with space to be able to camp and have a good time. There really are no neighbors so crank your tunes down by the river and have fun. Bring your fishing pole and hiking shoes and enjoy the outdoor life right in your own backyard!
