What a view!
Loved our stay. The view is spectacular and the cottage is just a short distance from everything downtown. The main house is right next door but it is still private and peaceful. Everything was clean and nicely decorated. It had all the amenities we needed for our brief stay. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.
Cannot beat the spectacular view!!!
This was our second time here, and when we got to the cottage, the grill and fire pit was gone. But Raul got us a grill the very next day, and we bought a cheap little weber to use for a fire pit. Raul was able to get us a great fire pit right before we left, and we thoroughly enjoyed it!! Our stay was fabulous! We grilled hot dogs and hamburgers pretty much the whole week, and a few times ate out. We had wine and munchies outside every day. Watching those waves crash up on the rocks RIGHT BELOW you is mesmerizing! The last time we were here was in Feb, and it was dark by 5. This time it stayed light a lot longer so we were able to enjoy the view…a lot longer! The cottage was spotless, and it had everything we needed. As mentioned before, if you are planning on gourmet cooking, this will not be the place for you. If you are here to enjoy nature at its finest, and just chill, this is THE place! We spent our week exploring the coast: Hiking the Fern Canyon to the waterfall-incredible!! Russian Gulch is beautiful, and the Jug Handle beach is quiet and lovely to stroll. We went to Pt Cabrillo lighthouse, and we did the Skunk Train Pedal cars-a ton of fun! We drove into Mendocino and walked through town and did the headlands walk. Gorgeous place and so much driftwood on the beach! Our favorite spot was Glass Beach. There is not much sea glass left, but the walk along the beach is incredible. We spent two days exploring every crevice, and enjoying the tide pools. Unique places we went to: Farmers markets in Ft Bragg and Mendocino, Pacific Star Winery (even if you don’t like wine, spectacular views!!), Mendocino Chocolate Co (dark chocolate sea salt caramels-oh my!!), Goodlife Café and Bakery (great place for breakfast), Botanical Gardens (you can easily spend a day!), Glass Fire Art Gallery (beautiful glass and wood works), Triangle Tattoo (very interesting place to see the history of tattoos). And after every adventure, we could not wait to get back to the cottage!! Did I mention the views? And you can actually walk out to the point that is on the right side of the property and get a landscape view-incredible!! We did not sleep in the bed. I slept on the couch, and my friend used the fold out single bed in the closet. We loved waking up to the view-yes, you can see it all right from the living room!! We are already planning our next trip back next year! Thank you Raul for another fantastic stay!!
You really cannot beat the view of this place. However, I wish it would have been a little more forthcoming in the description. An e-mail to the owner prior to arrival regarding amenities was never answered or I could have been a little more prepared. The BBQ is charcoal, so bring some. The hotplate in the kitchen only has one working burner and the kitchen supplies are very limited. A shelf of some sort, or additional counter would have been very helpful as well. If you plan to do a lot of preparing your own food, this may not be the place for you. It is however a very nice view, and cute place. Just small with not a lot offered. Not unsatisfied, but communication could have been better.
This home has an incredible view. For the most part it was a nice home. I was disappointed in the cleanliness of the home however. The windows were terrible dirty. There was also what appeared to be dried vomit near the fire pit. I have brought these things to the owners attention without a reply from him. The windows were horribly dirty with snail or slug trails throughout the sliding glass door. The home itself was extremely comfortable but I wouldn’t rent again because of the lack of communication.
Ocean and more ocean
The view here is great. Its a small cove and the waves just keep on coming. The Bed is a bit hard but the sound of waves makes up for that.
I have waited a month to respond....it was a miserable ordeal, arriving late at night and unable to get into our place due to a very broken down door and had to spend a night in a local motel. Got in the next day but was unable to lock the door for the next 3 days! Kitchen a bit to be desired....could only use one appliance at a time, having to unplug the other appliances so as not to blow a fuse. Just don’t plan on cooking. Sofa was quite interesting, could not sit next to each other as the cushions sunk to the floor with wood slats on your bottom. Owners did eventually return our first night stay. Only got 2 stars due to the beautiful view...
