Spacious, fantastic location and awesome local pub

The information provided in advance by the host was spot on and gave us everything we needed to know on arrival.

As mentioned by others, the property is much more spacious than the photos suggest and as 2 families of 4 it was ideal. The kitchen was really well equipped, the beds and bathrooms were just right. The location and shared facilities were a great extra. Our children used the tennis courts and there was even a netball post, which with 5 netball players among us was well used!

The walk to the pub in East Allington was very pleasant and the food we had there was superb. I would really recommend it.

Other things we did; Adrenaline Quarry - well worth a visit, shopping in Plymouth, Bantham Beach - gorgeous beach and much closer than Bigbury but as nice. (Really good food available from vendor in the car park). We also went to Slapton sands and had fish and chips on the beach front.

Quite frankly 4 days was not long enough and I want to go back!

Excellent property, we will be back

We stayed here for October half term. We were 6 adults, 2 small children and a baby. The pictures don't do it justice. The place is huge compared to the pictures. We were never on top of each other. Plenty of room for the children to play and the adults to relax.

Kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. Bathrooms are fantastic. Lovely showers and a huge bath.

All bedrooms are of a good size with plenty of storage.

The heated towel rails create enough heat that we never had to use the heating while we were there.

Location is perfect to so many places. We visited hope cove beach, salcombe, the woodlands theme park, kingsbridge, Dartmouth and south Milton sands.

Tesco and morrisons are a short drive away, however we did get a Tesco delivery to the property.

The fortescue arms pub is lovely and does typical pub grub.

Only downside is there is no tumble dryer as advertised but you can dry things on heated towel rails.

Rubbish is a bit of an issue but not the owners fault. Seems there is no glass recycling but the local rubbish centre is not far away so we just popped in there on our way out.

Can't wait to stay again.

We've just returned from an absolutely brilliant week at Sandlewood!

This is the most perfect base, and is close to Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, Totnes. It's very central to most things. Even the local pub is only a 10 minute walk away through Fallapit Estate (and what a lovely walk it is too!).

The cottage is absolutely massive - and so much room, all the utensils you could ever wish to use are there. It's quiet, comfortable, clean, spacious - just all round absolutely perfect. We will definitely be back!

Lovely contemporary barn close to many beaches

This property is lovely, much more spacious than the photographs suggest. The bedrooms are all light and airy and a very good size. We were a party of 4 adults, 1 child and 1 baby. We all had a plenty of room to relax in the open plan living space upstairs. The property has been decorated very nicely. The location, part of an old country estate is very private and safe, away from any busy roads. We saw older children exploring on bikes and scooters. The location is 15-20 mins of lots of great beaches and places to explore. Tesco supermarket only 10-15 mins drive away. I would highly recommend this property for exploring the lovely beaches in/around Kingsbridge, Dartmouth etc

Having spent a very happy Xmas week in Sandalwood, I want to add my voice to all those who have given this property excellent reviews. Please note: the small front garden and outside appearance do not do justice to the spacious and luxurious interior. It really is superb for up to 8 guests.

We have stayed in many rental properties over the years but I doubt if any were as well planned, fitted out and tastefully furnished as this one.

I particularly liked the oak floors and solid oak furniture and my wife was thrilled with the effectiveness of the central heating. It was at times minus 4 C outside but always as warm as toast inside. And the heated towel rails in all bathrooms was a real luxury.

I could go on about all the features that stood out, but an unexpected one was when I went upstairs for a glass of water in the middle of the night (yes, the house is upside down - and no worse for that). The kitchen/ dining room/sitting room is illuminated by very large windows in the ceiling: that night I looked up and it was like being in an observatory. Being in a rural setting there were very few lights to spoil the wonderful view of the stars and moon. Quite magical.

Well done the architect. And well done the owners for everything else.

Just one note of warning. Devon council only collect general household refuse once a fortnight, the bin is not overlarge and there is no nearby "dump". Its as well then to give priority, on your arrival, to the procedure for recycling for then you will find a place for everything.

Great accommodation in a wonderful location!

We had a lovely holiday in Sandalwood during October half term. This converted barn is perfect for two families to holiday together. It is spacious and clean. It was a mild week but we were surprised to not need the heating on at all as it was so warm. We just used the heated towel rails that are present in all three bath/shower rooms to dry our towels. The younger members of our group enjoyed playing tennis on the tennis court and using the play area. We enjoyed a walk through the Fallapit estate into East Allington and explored the village including the church. This accommodation is ideally suited to explore all of South Devon. We went to Blackpool Sands, Torcross, Start Point, Woodlands Leisure Park, Bantham, Bigbury, Burgh Island, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Salcombe. All of these places were well worth a visit!

Liz the owner provided great customer service, giving us all the information neccessary. Overall we would thoroughly recommend Sandalwood and we hope to go back soon!
