A nice stay

As this was our first visit to Portugal and the West coast with three couples, we couldn't have asked for a better experience than this! Fabulous stay! Thanks Sarah and Tony.

Everything is well equipped and the standard is high. All the rooms and beds are ready upon your arrival, which is an extra comfort after a long journey. We only have some suggestions: Great would to have some water in the fridge and maybe some fruits and bread, especially when you arrive late in the evening. And toilet paper in each bathroom, at least some spare ones.

The introducing of the house was good. Ken, the property manager, welcomed us and showed us the house.

You can reach him during the rental period in case of a problem or a question.

Ken charged us EUR 50 extra for the Internet access in the house. This was very expensive and not stated in the contract. For a house in this price this should be inclusive.

Heating for the pool costs also extra and this is also not mentioned in the contract.

After a week the towels and bed linen should be changed and the house cleaned. Unfortunately the cleaning group did not appear. A call to Ken and in the evening everything was done.

It was truly a fantastic stay, we all loved the house, the location and the central vacuum cleaner, we'd definitely recommend this house, it is really worth it!

We do only supply each bathroom with a set of toilet rolls as this is a self catering villa and are provided as a starter pack for your stay. We do arrange a mid stay clean and linen change which was due to be done the day after your call to Ken, but glad it was done quickly for you. Our initial advert does state the pool fee, but you may have missed this information when looking through. Should you return some time in the near future, we can always arrange a welcome pack for you, this would include extra toilet rolls too! Nice Villa, Frustrating People

Just read Liz H's 2 star review of this property, and it could have been written by me. Amazing!

We apparently checked into the villa shortly after Liz and her family left. We also are a three generation family, but staying in the villa for just four nights. Let's stipulate: the villa is fine, and of generally high quality, although I agree with her comments about the first floor "bedroom"... quite stuffy without aircon (which was not disclosed until check-in). The location is good, nicely situated in the Lagos area.

Liz's comments about the cleanliness of the villa echo our own. For instance, the floors were quite feet all around.

As a warning: When you check in, we suggest you do a forensic analysis of the villa's condition, equipment, cleanliness, etc., since you will be signing forms on the spot as to the condition, which you will then be held to. In general, the check-in process was brusque, officious and not very welcoming. Be aware that security deposit must be in cash at time of check-in, to be returned via bank transfer or credit card within "14 days of check-out".

In spite of these complaints, our stay in the villa was quite pleasant, and we left with good feelings.

Again, we echo Liz's comments about deposit return. Our deposit was held up for 19 days while the "laundry" tried to get stains out of the towels. (I wonder...could they have been the same stains, same towels as those from Liz's party?)

Of course the stains were not removed and we were charged a ridiculous fee to replace. We feel that the security deposit process was unacceptable, spoiling our feelings about the event, and thus I cannot recommend this property.

Resposta do proprietário: It is unfortunate that again these guests have not given us the opportunity to rectify any issues they had with the villa during their stay and have opted to comment exactly the same as the previous guest and our response is exactly the same. The linen was very badly damaged and had to be replaced. They clearly used self tanning products, 24 suntan protection/ makeup or took the towels out to the beach as they should not have been found on check out to be in the state they were. There is a washing machine to use in the villa so really these guests did not respect the linen they were provided with. We must explain that when you check in to this villa we do have a very strict check in procedure, but we appreciate that guests are eager to start their holiday and do not always make note of what is explained to them. That is why we leave a leaflet explaining all the house rules and should they find anything wrong with the villa within their first 48 hours to please contact us. Again this client chose to inform us they were not happy after we had to charge them for badly damaged linen. As a new guest you would expect to find your towels in good condition on your arrival as did these guests, so we have to be quite strict on how guests treat our towels. We strive to maintain our high standards of service but can only improve them if guests let us know during their vacation if there are any issues or they are not happy. These guests have unfortunately only been vindictive against this property as they had to pay for the damage they caused. We therefore wish to ask future guests to ensure they read all the positive reviews on this villa and do not let the guests that have disrespected it put you off staying in this fabulously located villa.

Some good, some not so good!!

We booked this villa for an extended family of three generations. We chose Lagos as we know the area which is lovely having stayed in a number of other villas nearby. The location is excellent for access to Lagos and its many attractions. The villa is also well equipped and left us requiring nothing in terms of equipment. However, the management company did rather let it down - unhelpful in terms of assisting us in locating the villa - the representative was extremely reluctant assist us in locating the villa and really didn't want to drive out to a local landmark to show us the. Way to the villa (all of a mile away!!). Upon arrival it was also evident that the cleaners eloped by the management company had done a less than satisfactory job. The outside shower looked as though it hadn't been cleaned for weeks and my husband found it necessary to clean the insects and leaves out of the pool daily - i would expect this to be a frequent service provided. The description of the villa also does not mention that bedroom four is intact a converted garage with no air con - clearly an essential in the glorious weather in the Algarve in August. Lastly the management company needed to be chased by me three weeks after returning from holiday to enquire where our deposit was. Upon doing this we were then told that ere was an issue with some towels - apparently so badly stained that they could not get them clean. Interesting when it was us that raised the issue with the deposit. We asked for contact details of the owner but this was declined under the guise of data protection - there was absolutely no reason why the company could not pass our details to the owner - it left us feeling that withholding do sits under these circumstances was a lucrative method to increase margins by the management company. Any reasonable laundry company would be able to deal with marks on white towels. Having hired over 30 villas over the years this is the first time that anything like this has happened. We left candid feedback on the questionnaire when we left the villa about the cleanliness and now wonder if this provoked such a reaction and also explain why we were not enabled to raise the issues with the owners.

We strive to ensure our services and staff are always of a high standard. We always urge guests to contact us immediately should they be unhappy in any way. This guest only informed us of the unfounded claims weeks after they left and only when we had advised them with photographic evidence that a couple of towels were so badly stained that we had to replace them for future guest use. We ask that future guests look at the positive reviews we have always received and be reassured that should any issues arise during their stay we are here to help ensure you have a stress free and relaxing vacation in our villa.

Just returned from a one week stay at your fantastic villa, We were four couples and we had a fantastic time. The villa was spacious with plenty of room for all of us.

The pool was clean and got plenty of use. The beach was a short walk and had two great restaurants that we frequented often. The villa was in a great location and we visited many sites in the Algarve. We would definitely recommend this villa to anyone who would like to visit the Algarve and would not hesitate to return ourselves...PS The only request we would have is to include a coffee maker for the kitchen, We purchased one and hope that future guests enjoy it..Canadians love there coffee.....Cheers Ian and gang..

2 Weeks of Luxury

We have stayed in Villas all over the Algarve but this tops the lot.Maintained to a very high standard and spotlessly clean.A beautiful Beach only 10 minutes walk,Antonio's Restaurant is also 10 minutes walk.

I would not hesitate to recommend this Villa to anyone.

We stayed at Ocean Villa as a group of four couples and this gorgeous villa far exceeded any of our expectations! The villa was absolutely stunning with quality furniture and fittings – no expense has been spared. The owners have gone out of their way to make sure that everything we could possibly need (and more) was there for our use.

The big bedrooms had very comfy beds and lovely en-suites and private balconies. Outside around the pool was plenty of seating with lots of sun-loungers and the gardens and pool are very private.

The beach is only a few minute’s walk away which is where Antonio’s is, a great restaurant on the beach for a good, well priced evening or lunchtime meal. The staff were lovely and the food was great.

A five minute drive away is the Intermarche and other supermarkets where we stocked up on essentials and found some very well priced wines too! Lagos is really nearby for great shopping, eating and drinking!

All in all this is one of the best villas we have stayed at, we will definitely be making a return trip next year!

We would all thoroughly recommend it!
