We had a lovely time staying at this charming home! It was large enough to sleep all six of us!
Our favorite thing about the house was the upstairs outside deck. We spent several evenings watching shooting stars from there!
The house is very clean and updated. The bedrooms being on the lower level kept us cool at night during an especially warm week on Nantucket. The kitchen was well stocked for our cooking needs. Two bathrooms (one up and one down) were very nice and clean. Sheets and towels were very nice and in plentiful supply.
The house was roomy enough for our group, yet also provided a yard for outdoor play. It is in a remote area, so a car is a must, but you’re only a couple of miles to ‘Sconset. It’s about a mile walk to Milestone road and the NRTA bus stop and there is no bike lane on Tom Nevers Rd.
The house is not air conditioned, which would greatly help during those especially warm and muggy days, but there are fans to help move the air.
The outdoor shower is nice, but could use a stepping stone or grate where the water accumulated and gets muddy.
The Carey’s were very responsive to questions and communicating and providing household supplies. I enjoyed interacting with them.
It was quite possibly my most positive rental experience on Nantucket and I would consider renting this house again.
Not a fan
Unfortunatley this house was not only way off the beaten path but it was outdated, dirty and VERY hot. My family of 3 stayed here for 1 week in early August. While the sheets and towels were clean the rest of the house had dust, cobwebs and dirty floors. The price is low for Nantucket, you really do get what you paid for with this one..
Nice but isolated
I am only giving this place 3 stars because it was not ideal for our needs, through no fault of the management or owners. In fact, management was very accommodating in allowing us access a little early and diligently fixing a problem with the toilet. The house was very clean, well stocked and larger than anticipated. The bunk beds easily fit 2 tweens per bunk. The house is situated on the lot to maximize privacy and quiet, which we appreciated. We traveled with younger, non-driving teens and tweens, and found the location too isolated for our crew. For the past 6 years we have stayed in Madaket, within walking distance to a neighborhood beach, the bike path, a bus stop, Millie's and Madaket beach. It was difficult to tell from looking at Google maps just how isolated this property is from these types of amenities, which allowed our kids to enjoy Nantucket with some degree of independence. The house is located off Tom Nevers Road. Tom Nevers Road has neither a bike path nor side walks and it is not well lit at night, accordingly it is unsafe to bike and/or walk on, although the traffic is sporadic cars do go fast as it is a long straight road. The closest bus stop at the intersection of Tom Nevers and Milestone Roads is located a good 20 minute walk from the house. The closest bathing beach, located in Sconset, required use of the car to reach, so we ended up heading to Surfside mostly since we were already in the car. It bears mentioning the parking space is relatively small and made for a lot of maneuvering in our extra long SUV. I will say, I never could find any view of the ocean. Overall this is a great house better suited to the childless or families with younger, transportation dependent children.
It was a pleasure to stay at this quaint home in Tom Nevers. The Carey Company was always available to respond to any questions that we had throughout the rental process. We found the home description and photos to be accurate and current. The second floor deck provided a great setting for many wonderful seafood dinners with a beautiful view of the sunset. It was also nice to relax in the yard after a busy day at the beach or in town. Our pet deposit and cleaning deposit were also returned in a timely manner. Thank you for a great stay!
Wonderful stay. Quiet location
My girlfriend and I along with our dog LuLu had a wonderful stay. The house is very quaint and well maintained. The house was renovated somewhat recently and the furnishings and amenities are nice and comfortable. The house has a very nice view of the sunset from the second floor patio. The location is secluded on a quiet road about 5-10 minutes to Sconset and 15 minutes to town by car. We rented a jeep and a car while not an absolute must is very helpful (and recommended) given given the location on the island. You will probably want to check out several of the beaches on the island anyway! Tom Nevers beach is a short bike ride but not really the best given limited parking and essentially no facilities. We drove each day to the beach and into town for dinner but having a family dinner at the house would certainly work well. The house is very close to one of the main bike paths on the island and we had several great long road bike rides.
Overall for the price/value the house was very good and for us the location suited us really well as we tend to want to get out and see things around the area.
Chris was a pleasure to deal with. Everything was as described in the listing and he was very helpful throughout the rental process.
Muitas trilhas ao redor da casa. Caminhada para a praia. Fechar a pitoresca Sconset Village. Grandes trilhas de bicicleta.
