We loved our home away from home in Alanas Tarascon property.

The home is in the historic part of Tarascon. The village is very typical French within the lovely Provence area. It's very central to go and visit all the special places to explore. Stephanie looked after us, explaining about the local area.The markets are plentiful, especially we loved Arles. We would recommend Alanas property for a holiday.

Idyllic holiday in beautiful South of France

This is a stunning house set in cobbled streets of picturesque Tarascon. The house itself is beautifully decorated to compliment the period building with antique furniture, exposed brick and wooden beams its everything you could imagine to experience in the South of France. It is also extremely well equipped with full kitchen, modern bathroom, packed bookshelves and even a bike to fetch a fresh baguette on in the morning. The property is very large, set over three floors, I stayed with my parents and sister, and we each had a double room to spread out in, so lots of space! Outdoor space is not limited either with an outside patio area on the ground floor which is a bit shaded and cooler for breakfast outside, and a spacious roof terrace which hosted a sunbed, umbrella and patio furniture. We loved coming in from a long day in the sun making big dinner, eating around the dining table and then relaxing with some games on the leather furniture. The house was spotlessly clean with fresh towels and linen, and the ease of arriving and getting house instructions added to the trip. Tarascon is a very small but efficient town, it has a supermarket within walking distance and lots of local cuisine. The adjoining Beaucaire town has a beautiful little harbour and lots of restaurants overlooking the water which we loved. Tarascon is also well positioned, we visited Arles for the impressive photography festival, explored Avignon, spent lots of time at the beach in the Camargue and enjoyed a day at the Pont du Gard. I would go back to this property in a heartbeat, it has all I would ever want from a holiday in the South of France and at excellent prices too!!

Great hideaway in sunny Provence

This town house on three levels is designed for the comfortable breaks. It is an old house full of foibles and charm. I think that this is what seasoned travellers expect of Provence when they look for comfort rather then the luxuries. We were definitely very pleased with it. Very well equipped kitchen is perfect for whipping up delicious meals from the local produce. Large living room provides a cool shelter from the intense Provencal sun. Small garden at the back affords the shade for lunch, quiet coffees or a glass of rose. Nicely arranged bathroom with a luxurious bath is perfect for a long baths after a long day outdoors. Rooms are large and beautifully laid out with quirky details strewn around a place. Well stocked library ensures hours of fun for the stormy days or a long sunbathing sessions on the top terrace. The house is in a quiet street inside of medieval city walls, allowing you a quick access to the centre, the river and neighbouring town, Beaucaire. Market on Tuesday is a lively affair when one can stock up on fresh fish, amazing cheese and organic veggies. Town is sleepy but perfectly positioned for exploration of this part of France. Arles, Avignon and Nimes are just a short train rides away (10-15mins), while St Remy de Provence is only 12km up the road. Local villages are full of excellent restaurants. There are too many tourist attractions to be listed here ranging from Roman ruins to Van Gogh's favourite haunts to Arles' amphitheatre where Picasso and Hemingway watched corridas,... Place bursts with joie de vivre , vibrant colours and aromatic smells. It is Provence after all. I fully recommend this location for people who want to explore authentic France and do not care for a five star hotel stays.

Budget rental close to sights

If you are looking for a budget rental house that is well-located to explore Arles, Avignon, and the Pont-du-Gard, then this house will work for you. It is a 15th century stone house and it has a certain charm, but you must remember that it is ancient. The windows are shuttered, not screened, which made it hot and stuffy for sleeping---even in October. We didn't feel comfortable leaving the shutters open because a local had warned us that the area was prone to break-ins with thefts. With the shutters bolted closed, we did feel perfectly safe.

There are dozens of stairs to the bedrooms and bathroom from the ground floor. This didn't bother us, but would be a problem for people with mobility issues.

Our room on the second floor was charming and clean, as was the bathroom and the linens. I couldn't say the same for the floors or the stove with a dirty pan in the oven which someone unfortunately missed. We didn't use the oven, but did use the washer and it worked perfectly. The kitchen was very well equipped.

The region offers many wonderful sights, including the spectacular Pont-du-Gard.

A suggested up-grade might be to remove or replace the torn chair in the second floor bedroom.

I think my concierge was being over cautious - it's perfectly fine to have the shutters open when you are in the house - just to secure them the ground floor front door and window at night and when you leave the property. I'll check with the cleaner about your well -observed remarks and I hope that you all had a very safe, good journey home.

Helpful property manager close by but dark with no outside space

Location good for things to do in the area. Cool, medieval space but very dark. High incidents of theft in the neighborhood so never felt comfortable to keep doors or windows open. Need to go to a neighboring town for restaurants. This street is close by but is not a picture of the actual street the property is on.
