This apartment is the entire top floor of my house. It is a large (75m2) completely private, self contained, open plan studio apartment.
It comprises of a comfy Queen sized bed, lounge and dining area. The Victorian bathroom with shower is off the main room. A separate, but open-plan fully equipped kitchen. There is also a sleeper couch, preferably for children. The apartment is above my house and little flower studio and it has its own separate entrance. Large fireplace inside and a braai (bbq) on the balcony. The balcony is completely protected from the South Easter wind that blow in the summer.
Magnificent views from every window. Table Mountain, Signal Hill, Robben Island, the Waterfront, Devils Peak, Lions Head, Cape Town Stadium, the ships and the yacht racing in splendid Table Bay and harbour, the old Bo-Kaap and all of the beautiful City Bowl. You can even watch (through the telescope) the dignitaries arriving on the red carpet and into the front doors of our parliament. Watch the hundreds of full moon Lions Head hikers with their headlamps, lighting up the trails, transforming the mountain into a magical sparkling wonderland.
Devils Peak is a quiet, older suburb that has recently undergone a major revival. There are many restaurants in the area and a friendly local supermarket nearby if you are cooking your own meals.
We are just one block from the mountain and its many beautiful and popular walks and cycle routes. If you are a mountain biker, this is the place to be. Explore the waterfalls in winter and magnificent plant life. The Cape Floral Kingdom is both the smallest and the richest floral kingdom in the world. It has the highest known concentration of plant species with 1 300 per 10 000 km2!! (The nearest rival is the South American rain forest which has a concentration of only 400 per 10 000 km2).
The apartment faces North so is well protected from the brisk South Eastly winds which can occur in Cape Town in the Summer months.
