Fantastisch rustig plekje

Heerlijke tijd gehad. Voor het eerst in Portugal en we komen zeker een keertje terug. Het huisje is ons heel goed bevallen. Lekker koel, leuk terras en omgeving. Fijne eigenaren.

Quinta Boavista cottage, lovely!

Hens with quiet cooing calls were an unexpected discovery, wish we'd recorded their soothing voices. Don't worry, there are NO roosters to disturb your sleep! We swung open the shutters - after we'd slept 12 full hours - sunlight streamed in and we saw sheep just beyond the cottage fence. You really feel in a different place and it's wonderful. Though daytime temperatures were really warm in mid-September, we felt a little cool inside in the late evening as we had only summer clothes (and our apartment at home is overly warm). Our hosts provided pine cones and cork wood for the heater and we kept cozy. Didn't need the heater after that as we got used to cooler evenings. It is just a few minutes' drive to a good butcher/talho and groceries. Fruit and veg at the supermarket Littoral in Cercal were past their prime, though their bread and buns were good, but there is an alternative store near the butcher. It is tiny and crammed full but has fresher produce. Park at the downtown cemetery and walk to small shops just steps away. Sabine and her family were friendly and warm people, great hosts, but you also have complete privacy plus one sunny area and one shady area to yourself. Watch the birds eating figs or pick a few apples and just relax. We could easily come back for another visit as we made it our base for touring the area by car and really enjoyed our week here. Thank you!

Thoroughly recommended

Our second stay at Quinta Boavista and it did not disappoint. We never usually go back to somewhere that we have been to before but made an exception here. We enjoyed our visit as much this time if not more than before. We find Quinta Boavista perfect for a relaxing holiday. There are plenty of beaches and places to visit in the nearby vicinity.

Sabine, Dries and family are very welcoming and accommodating. Easy to visit from both Faro and Lisbon. There are plenty of restaurants to try in Cercal, Vila Nova de Milfontes, Porto Cove and Sines.

We have been back home nearly a fortnight now and can honestly say we miss Quinta Boavista and the Alentejo very much. I can see a third visit will be happening.

Een fijne tijd op een mooie locatie.

Na 2 uur rijden vanaf Faro werden we om 1 uur 's nachts ontvangen door de gastvrouw. In de ochtend een prachtige eerste indruk. De quinta Boa Vista is gelegen in een sfeervol romantisch dalletje begroeid met verschillende vruchtbomen, begrenst aan de ene kant met een beekje en aan de andere kant een helling met bos. Daar 12 dagen verblijven was voor ons geen straf. Heerlijk!

Wandelen in de nog authentieke plattelandsomgeving met de geweldige bloemenpracht . Lekker eten daarna in het dorpje Cercal. Erg veel de nabij gelegen kust bezocht met prachtige stranden, helemaal alleen voor jezelf.

Kortom een aanrader deze plek als je van rust, ruimte en prachtige natuur houdt.

Fantastic for relaxing and unwinding

The farm of Quinta Boavista is set in such a peaceful, private and beautiful little valley and is the perfect place to have a relaxing holiday. Dries and Sabine and family made us feel really welcome from the start. The cottage has everything you need is tastefully decorated and was very clean and well cared for.

The small town of Cercal is close at hand and has various shops, restaurants and a supermarket. The town is untouristy and has an authentic Portugese feel to it.

There are many beautiful beaches close to hand to explore and they were certainly not crowded when we visited. The property is easily visited from either Lisbon or Faro.

We have never visited the same place twice, but may well make an exception here.

Lovely, quiet, rural hideaway

We are a family of three and we were looking for somewhere within easy reach of Villanova and all its beaches and restaurants. We couldn't have been happier with Quinta Boavista.

Sabine and Dries were great hosts - as were their incredibly friendly dogs Nelson and Lola. It felt like we were really living on a little Portuguese farm - which we were!

The main house is slightly separated from where guests stay, so you have lots of privacy. The main room is large, lovely and cool if it gets hot. The patio and garden are very pretty and there is a hammock for enjoying the sun. The bedrooms are on the small side but very cosy and any family of four would be perfectly comfortable in them. Plus there are all the farm animals - its a great place for little kids, though our son is 8 and he really enjoyed all that too.

The local village of Cercal, whilst not a major tourist destination, has all the things you might need in a pinch - cafes, supermarket etc - and is a 15 minute or 5 minute drive away.

In short, this is a great little place if you have a car and are looking for a base to jump off from to explore the Alentejo and Algarve West Coast. It's great value too.
