The pictures of this property are a true reflection of this wonderful hideaway, with real Greek character. The 25 other reviews of this unique retreat say it all--charming, lovely, clean, spacious, large open plan sitting/dining area looking out on courtyard dotted with all kinds of plants in pots and beyond that the open plan, covered kitchen with everything you need.
We found the fridge stocked with some lovely Greek goodies to start us off. With the supermarket just a stone's throw away it was really easy to pop in to stock up supplies. Zakanthi (now no longer run by Tassos and Liz) and Essence were our two favourite restaurants, all within walking distance. In fact, everything is in walking distance! However, we did hire a jeep to drive around the island and discovered stunning views and beautiful olive orchards. The Vasilikos area has nice beaches and Keri and Marathia are sweet little places to visit (and eat). Liz and Tassos were lovely, friendly hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Liz for picking us up and dropping us off at the airport and for all your help in making this a very memorable, wonderful holiday for us.
We do hope to come back one day for a longer stay as your studio has been an exceptionally special place for us to stay. We would definitely recommend this little gem to anyone looking for something unique, charming, with a real soul.

This Place is a little piece of heaven, we came out for our sons wedding and we couldn't of hoped for a more perfect place to stay, It had everything we needed and more,Liss and Tassos were exceptional hosts and couldn't do enough for us, The villa is close to all the things you want on holiday i.e beaches, shops and really good restaurants and all were reasonably priced, Just to mention that we had no problems getting Food from stores or withdrawing cash from machines and paying for goods on our card, From what was being reported and shown in national news you would never know there was a crisis in Greece everything was normal and the people was really Friendly and helpful, back to the holiday we walked into Old part of Kalamaki and it was beautiful, we had a lovely meal there and done a bit of gift shopping, It also worth visiting Crystal Beach Bar, that had lovely views of the Ocean and the Bay. There are also some other lovely restaurants in the area, We hired a Quad bike for a few days so we could look further afield and visit our families who were also staying in the area, we also hired a speed boat and drove out to Turtle Island which is Amazing, while out at sea it was great to jump off and Swim in The beautiful Clear Blue Sea and do some snorkelling, It Has Been An Amazing Holiday in a very beautiful Place, Once again Liss and Tassos Thank you for sharing your Lovely Home with us and we would love to come back and see you again in the future XXX
We are just back from spending a week in this wonderful place. If we are ever to visit Zakynthos again it would be the place we would return to.
Kalamki is a good location with plenty of restaurants and bars but not over commercial and brash as some other resorts. The property is situated in a perfect location very close to one of the unspoilt "turtle" beaches. Very quiet and private but only a few minutes walk from a small supermarket and some restaurants. We loved the Crystal Bay hotel just a 2 minute walk which has the most stunning views from its restaurant and pool bars. Perfect place to watch the sun go down.
The outdoor living areas of the property are unique and great fun,a bit like very upmarket camping. Very comfortable and cool. The bedroom and bathroom have the advantage of having mosquito screens so you can sleep peacefully without being bitten.
Lis and Tasso are perfect hosts, there if you need them but they give you your privacy as well.
We have stayed in lots of villas all over but this is the nicest by far.
After six visits to this beautiful island, we finally struck gold in finding this unique 'semi-bungalow' home.
The accommodation, is exactly as described, and more; what cannot be put into words, however, is the 'wow factor': its charm, which is a must to experience. Nestled at the end of the old road, and on the threshold of the 'horseshoe' that loops to the strip and all the way back, you have everything you wish for, right on your doorstep, and beyond.
We were transported the three short miles from the airport by our excellent host, Lis, to our accommodation which is equipped with everything that literally makes it a home away from home; not to mention our welcome pack.
We ate chez Lis and Tasos, or in one of the many restaurants. Our daytime favourites are Nostos, Stanis, Crystal Beach and Puzzle, all minutes away. The freedom, and joy, of 'brunching'; instead of jostling for pole position at a hotel toaster, at some unearthly hour in the morning, is second to none.
Both the privacy and spaciousness of the apartment is unrivalled by any other accommodation in the area, in our opinion. The beautiful, spacious garden area is perfect for sunbathing and the outside dining areas, offer welcome respite, relaxation, and refreshment, in the shade. A few steps away is your swimming pool - the sea, at Crystal Beach.
The sunshine and subsequent, ambient evening temperatures are what characterise Kalamaki's climate perfect for us. Sundown, time for dinner, after 9. Cocktails first, our favourites are the Oceanic on the old road, or Look Up on the strip. Then dinner at Michaelos, La Contessina, Zeppos, or Buon Amici. However, the jewel in the crown of Kalamaki's cuisine is Zakanthi, which is of course to be credited to Lis and Tasos.
Further afield, there are many little Greek Tavernas to be discovered, both inland and on the coast, as you explore the island by car; you can do a whistle stop tour in a day. The rainbow spectrum of the sea is breathtaking: teal turquoise, aquamarine, lazuli, azure, sapphire...
The sky at night in Kalamaki is also a sight to behold. Crystal Beach has to offer one of the most beautiful panoramas on the planet. Here, the moon mirrors the colours of the sea, in the night time sky: cyan cerulean, indigo; greatly enhanced by the lack of light pollution-merely the twinkling of the odd light, from the tavernas in the distance.
Kalamaki is busy enough to be interesting, but quiet enough to be a fantastic retreat.
We stayed for one week in this beautiful studio. It was Easter and that is a quiet period there but a festive season for the locals. All the people that we met were so friendly, smiling and welcoming.
The property is very well located, close to the long and sandy beach, the villages and the main town. You can relax in the garden or visit this nice island and discover some amazing places ! Lis and Tassos, the fantastic owners, will always suggest you a brilliant road to take or spot to go to.
You have all the furniture that you need in the studio, the kitchen and the covert garden ;-). Everything is very clean and well-maintained. We were welcomed with a refreshing drink and even some food in the fridge. That was perfect !!! Lis and Tassos are there if you need something and we spent some really good time with them ! They are so kind and do their upmost best for you to feel on holidays.
We would certainly recommend this property to family, friends and relatives.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we certainly will come back ! We need to see the plants that we offered to Lis and Tassos for all what they have done for us (like picking up us at the airport). There are now 2 plants in the garden called Catherine and Marc. If you meet them, please give us our Belgian greetings ;-)
We got 5 stars holidays ! Kind regards and take care !
Still missing the whole experience of being in Kalamaki and staying at Lis's beautiful apartment. We returned here this September after our first visit in 2011 and although we missed seeing Lis this year, everything at the apartment was as it was before, very clean and welcoming. This delightful & unique accommodation, is so much more than a studio! Communications are very good with Lis, & any queries you may have are answered fully. The real charm here is the outside living space with a large patio/dining area & across the courtyard, a typical Greek outside kitchen (both covered) with everything you could need for this type of holiday. The whole accommodation, including the garden, has everything to ensure you have a very comfortable, peaceful, relaxing holiday.
A short walking distance to supermarkets, shops, many restaurants & best of all, so near the sea! Within Kalamaki there are some very nice walks & if you wish to explore further there is a bus stop nearby, which takes you into Zante town so you can explore further afield. I have no doubt whatsoever that we will return again to this idyllic spot!! Thank you Lis & Tasso for another memorable holiday.
