Vila Real de Santo Antonio is very beautiful. Very picturesque. I advise you to visit. The apartment is very good, very well equipped, comfortable and in a very desirable residential area. The owners are very friendly and did everything to make our stay 5 stars. Mr Carlos was also very helpful and is always available. Probably will return for the year. Thanks for everything.

We really enjoyesd the spacious, climated and comfortable property. near to the city and the beach we could reach all important points in a few minutes. we had a good customerservice. help with transfers and flat. Vila Ral itselve is a nice location for holidays.

Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful apartment. Every room was bright and spacious. A real bonus was having 2 balconies, guaranteeing a sunny spot to relax any time of the day. The apartment was spotlessly clean with all the comforts of home. Situated in a quiet part of town but still within 5-10mins walk to ferry crossing, great restaurants and town square.
This is a spacious ,comfortable and clean apartment, well-equipped though probably with the owner's family in mind rather than a commercial letting. Balconies enabled guests to sit in the sun almost all day though there is hardly room for six people at a time! We did not have access to a car but found no difficulty in exploring the town (with its shops and restaurants), the beach and the local area. particularly we visited Ayamonte, Tavira and Mertola. Self catering is no problem and there is a wide variety of choice for eating out. We welcome the owner's plan to provide a house book with local information as this would have given us immediate access to local information and other peoples' experiences.
We arrived home last night after a fantastic holiday at the Varandas Da Guadiana apartment in Vila Real de St Antonio. The apartment was lovely and the sun shone for the whole time. Easily the best weather that we have experienced in the Algarve at New Year (5th time). It did get very cold at night though (4 degrees!), but the sunshine made up for it.
Were were warmly welcomed by Carlos on arrival and given a quick tour of the apartment. He also provided directions to the local baker (more about that later).
The apartment is spacious, well equipped, clean and well maintained. Furniture is all of a high standard. The rear balcony is a bit of a sun trap even in December/January. It is also within easy walking distance to the town square.
There are a good few small supermarkets and one reasonably large supermarket in easy walking distance and there is also a large Pingo Dolce, a Lidl and an Intermarche supermarket in the town. We used a small local butcher for meat. Good quality and reasonable prices. We found two fishmongers but they were both closed - possibly holidays. Intermarche and Pingo both have good quality fresh fish but you have to make sure that it has not been on their ice shelf for too long! The counter staff are happy to clean the fish for you.
There is a cracking little bakers (best morning rolls ever!) two minutes walk from the apartment and the cafe attached has great coffee and free wi-fi (at 80 cents for a chilled bottle of Sagres the beer is nearly free as well).
We eat in a lot, but the O Cisne restaurant serves fantastic food at a very reasonable price and is less than five minute walk. A meal for 4 with a litre of pleasant house red for 50 Euros cannot be bad. The grilled chicken and the roast pork were superb and the fish of the day was straight from the sea that day!
As a lot of local restaurants were closed we ended up at the Chinese Restaurant near to the town square on New Years Day. It was also good and again a lot cheaper than back home.
There are plenty of golf courses nearby but we stuck with the Seve Ballesteros designed Quinta do Valle as it took us three rounds to work out how to avoid the water!
Having spent a New Year holiday in Lagos four times, VRStA was a pleasant alternative and we would hope to be back soon to explore a bit more.
Richard, the owner, was very helpful and very easy to deal with and we would be happy to recommend this apartment.
