A Magical Scottish delight

We have just had the most wonderful week at Saraig and are bereft that we can no longer see those amazing views outside our windows... The house itself is very well thought out with so many of your needs covered (such as soap, loo roll, firewood, kitchen utensils etc) and the beds are all very comfy. It really is the most peaceful place that I have holidayed in and the ever changing views over the loch are very addictive. We had a wonderfully mixed bag of weather during our week and although we absolutely loved the sunny, clear days, the rainy, moody ones were equally entrancing. I have no idea how I am going to edit down the hundreds of photos I took (this was definitely a photographers paradise) but I am definitely going to enjoy reliving the beauty as I do so. We travelled with our two teenaged sons who loved the place as much as us. Having so much varied wildlife both on our doorstep and further afield was definitely one of their highlights! Thank you Paula for providing such a gorgeous place for us - we hope to return before too long!!

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous

Saraig is a beautiful cottage in an immensely tranquil location. The views and atmosphere of the place are breathtaking. When booking a property there are always hopes and expectations - this was even better than we expected plus it was beautifully clean and very welcoming. The owner, Paula, is an artist which shows in the original interior design of the place. Pieces of artwork are scattered about the house in an unobtrusive manner. The area is fantastic - so much to do but not at all commercialised. Lots of walks. Some days we didn't see a soul. We loved it.

Peace and quiet!

Fantastic location very quiet, great accommodation nice and clean, very well presented and lovely and warm well equipped with great views and fantastic wildlife, we had numerous visits from pine martens and a badger, watched otters from the front windows and masses of birds on the feeders in the back garden.

We had a great week with great weather perfection!!!

Saraig - delightful cottage

Saraig is a very cozy cottage in the most beautiful surroundings. If peace, quiet and tranquility are what you're looking for this is the place to come. The views are magnificent and it's position is ideal for touring. great place for nature lovers, walkers and climbers. Thank you Paula.

Für den Preis etwas Besseres erwartet

Die Lage des Hauses ist gut.

Die Angaben des Vermieters waren nicht vollständig. z.B. ist nicht beschrieben, dass es sich um eine Doppelhaushälfte handelt. Zwischen dem Ferienhaus und dem Strand befindet sich eine Straße. Von der Küche und den Badezimmern fehlen aus gutem Grund Fotos im Angebot. Stereoanlage funktioniert nicht. Fön ist keiner vorhanden. Heizungen funktionierten nicht in allen Räumen.

Der Zustand war sehr enttäuschend. Die komplette Küche und das Inventar incl. Kühlschrank (befindet sich in einem extra Raum) waren nicht sauber. Im Windfang lagen sehr viele tote Insekten. Die beiden Badezimmer und die Küche sind dringend renovierungsbedürftig. Ein WC-Sitz wird mit Klebeband zusammengehalten!!! Gardinen wurden einfach passend geschnitten und waren teilweise verschmutzt. Der Außenbereich war sehr ungepflegt und stellenweise vermüllt.

Auf Reklamationen der diesbezüglichen Mängel vor Ort wurde nur schriftlich sehr verhalten reagiert und lediglich auf die bisherigen positiven Bewertungen hingewiesen. Bei einem Stromausfall (ca. 4 Stunden) erhielten wir auf Nachfrage keine Antwort. Das beschriebene Notfall-Camping-Set war nicht vollständig vorhanden und somit nicht nutzbar. Drei Schlafzimmer wurden von uns für 6 Personen gebucht. Vorbereitet waren jedoch nur zwei Schlafzimmer. Kurz vor Reiseantritt erhielten wir die Info, dass Handtücher mitgebracht werden müssen. Außer dem Verwalter bei der Schlüssel- und Geldübergabe hatten wir keinerlei persönlichen Kontakt mit dem Vermieter. Die Übergabe fand vor Besichtigung des Hauses ca. 10 km vom Ferienhaus entfernt statt.

Auf Grund unserer Enttäuschung würden wir das Ferienhaus niemandem empfehlen!

Unternehmensmöglichkeiten sind vorhanden. Die Nähe zu Skye, Eilean Donan Castle, Plockton usw. sind positiv zu erwähnen.

Wir haben uns bei der Buchung des Hauses auf die positiven Bewertungen gestützt und können leider nur 2 Sterne vergeben.

Resposta do proprietário: Dear Mario, I am so sorry you were disappoitned with Saraig. I couldn't visit you in person as I was 600 miles away at the time. It saddens me to think you didn't enjoy your holiday but I think that might have been largely because you were extremely unlucky with the weather with non-stop rain. However, I do think your comments unfair and untrue - apart from the refridgerator that my cleaner admits to overlooking, for which I apologised. The cottage isn't on a street - it is on a single track which is how you access the place by car. The things you said were missing weren't - in fact there were two hairdryers - and the neglected garden is, in fact, geared towards wildlife, which Saraig has an abundance of, so no poisons are used plus there is a wildflower area. Everything else you said about the kitchen and bathrooms is a matter of taste. You only have to look at all the other reviews to see how completely at odds my other guests' opinions of the property are compared to yours - they are the complete opposite. Because of this, I couldn't agree to the refund you requested. I know you wanted to withhold payment until the end of the holiday, and this might have contributed to your disatisfaction, but that's not how anybody in the vacation rental business works. I really am sorry you didn't enjoy your holiday. Regards Paula

Our hearts are still there.

Having carefully read the reviews we hoped that Saraig would be the perfect destination for us to tie-the-knot and I'm thrilled to say it made all our dreams come true. Getting married lock side with the mountains and forest as our backdrop left nothing for us to do but get swept up in the romance of it all. We stayed for a week with our two witnesses, so there was ample space and big cosy big beds to choose from. The idea that we might catch a glimpse of pine martens was so exciting and when they emerged on day three and tucked into our peanut butter sandwiches it knocked our socks off. The otter put in a stella appearance on the final night and was bathed in golden light as the sun disappeared. Glenshiel and Glenelg are stunning. There's no need to go on long journeys to find beautiful locations because you're slap-bang in the middle of one. Coming back to the cottage to a lovely fire is bliss and watching the mountains opposite change colour with the ever changing weather is truly a sight that captivates; who needs tele? Both Paula and Saraig are wonderfully welcoming and we couldn't have asked for more. I just hope it all remains a secret so that we can book in again soon. P.S.
