Natur pur und sehr erholsam

  • 5 de 5

Italy Marche A hidden and peaceful place

  • 4 de 5

Really -This place is peaceful and embeded in a prestine surrounding of the italian nature of the Marche

The owner have tastliy renovated the old farmhouse and managed to

maintain the original style.

We were very happy to have found such a house for 5 of us

with everything you need to enjoy a "simple" life for 2 weeks.

The well equipped kitchen for cooking sessions, a porch to eat outside

in the shade, a semi-open room to sleep outside in warm nights

(in our case only used for our morning Yoga with a great view into the

valley).

You may stay the whole day reading, sun bathing or playing table tennis near the house, while the kids may take care of the dog for a walk, brush the horse or feed the funny chicken or

cats. Nearby you will find great local food (Agro Tourismo) of the Marche or nice restaurants. In any case you will need a car. There is no traffic at all, so you may enjoy cycling, but is will be tough and more for the early birds in summer time. For hiking or swimming you may enter the nearby National Park (Monti Sibillini) with impressing nature and a wonderful close moutain lake (trout fishing before 1.5. or after 15.9.). Camerino, Tolentino, Matelica, San Severino.. all these villages offer festivals, markets and pittoresques views (bring your water colors...). You may also visit Assisi (Umbria) or to go for a swim to the Adria coast (chalk cliffs south of Ancona or sand beaches - but drive will be min. 1 hours +).

Kirsty and John live next door and are very quiet and reluctant. They will help you at anytime and give you great suggestions - depending on weather and saison.

Summarizing, the nice house is great for a couple as well as for a family up to 5 persons, who like to enjoy life in a peacefull surrounding.

A great place, even after having seen so many places in Italy, the experience of a pure Marche - simple, unspoiled and true with very kind locals and great hosts is unforgetable.

Finally we loped and returned home - revitalized after this stay.

Peaceful and very enjoyable stay in Palomba

  • 5 de 5

We stayed for two weeks at Palomba. The house is everything like described in the ad. It is the ideal stay for a relaxing holiday. You'll be waked up in the morning by the donkey and the birds. It's the ideal place to visit some important cities in the region like Macerata, Assisi, Foligno, Norcia, etc. It's ideal for adults who want to relax and read books in the garden. But kids want be bored either with the splash pool and the table tennis table. The animals are very kind. My daughter was very fond of the dog Maxim and the cat Peanut. The other cats also found a place in her heart.

It was a very pleasant holiday and we would gladly recommend it to others.

Family fun!

  • 5 de 5

We brought our three children (9,7 and 4) to this wonderful natural spot in August 2010. It was so beautiful, and the welcome so warm and friendly, that they quickly settled into life's new rhythm: visit the ducks, admire the dogs, tickle the cats and gaze adoringly at Cassie, the horse; then run around in the garden or go for a wander up the hillside to look for wildlife and admire the views before jumping into the large splash pool for a cool down. Meanwhile, we would take a leisurely breakfast in the terrace room that overlooks the valley (time slipped away so easily over coffee and bread and jam), maybe wander up the hill with the children and then relax by the pool with a book while the children splashed and squealed. And books there are aplenty. The collection in the apartment is something special, so there is no need to lug loads of holiday reading in your luggage.

When finally you think you really ought to go out somewhere - and it is difficult to tear yourself away! - there is so much to do. The old towns to explore, the ice cream parlours in Camerino to frequent, fun days swimming and boating at Lake Fiastra, walks through the breathtaking loveliness of the Sibbillini mountains to name a few.

Kirsty and John are full of good ideas and advice about the local events and activities. They also produce the most amazing starter pack of provisions, much of which comes straight from their garden, plus eggs from the ducks and some wine to ease your arrival.

The apartment is very clean and comfortable; simply but thoughtfully furnished, with well equipped kitchen and bathroom and with several different places to eat and relax, depending on the time of day. In addition to the terrace room for breakfast, there is a verandah with a large table and chairs which provides a shady spot for the heat of the day, with pretty flowers and a vine for added interest. This also proved a great spot for budding artists to try out their skills. Or you can take table and chairs out into the garden to relax and dine al fresco....

All in all, this is a lovely place to visit, particularly if you want a relaxing break away from screens and hubbub but with lots of simple things to see and do.

A place to return to

  • 5 de 5

Palomba is a place we have returned to several times over the last four years because it is a peaceful, rural holiday location. The ideal place to escape the rat race and unwind. You can sit in the shadow of a fig tree and read , lay on the grass and sun bathe or sit in the open room and daydream about the ancient hill town of Camerino.

Sit out under the veranda and enjoy your own cooking with a bottle of one of the local wines or visit one of the many local agriturismos serving delicious regional dishes made from local ingredients at very reasonable prices.

There is plenty to do if and when you wish to as Palomba is within easy reach of mountain lakes, beautiful coastal beaches, historic cities and lots more.

Kirsty and John are friendly helpful hosts who are there if you need them but otherwise leave you to just enjoy your holiday. Their description of the apartment is accurate if a little understated.

We are already looking forward to our next stay, so if you are looking for a self-catering apartment in beautiful surroundings book Palomba now, and you will probably find like us that you will never want to leave.

Un mese nella campagna

  • 5 de 5

We stayed at Palomba for a month while I attended the Dante Alighieri Italian language school in Camerino. It was my third trip to Le Marche in four years. Come the end of the course and the possibility of touring other parts of Italy, we didn't want to leave. The only thing that stopped us from staying for the remaining three weeks of our holiday was that Palomba was already booked.

A number of day trips during our stay (and the subsequent three weeks on the road) confirmed that we had found the very best of Italy: beautiful, yet unpretentious and real. Each day at Palomba brought the pleasure of small things: sunrise over the hills, the silence of the countryside (no traffic or flight paths), Maxim and Teo to greet us each morning at the kitchen door, the ducks' daily promenade, the magnificent 10 minute drive into Camerino, freshly laid duck eggs for Sunday breakfast, the deep flavour of Kirsty's roma tomatoes. All this in an area of Italy that has not yet been touched by rampant tourism, where the natural beauty and magnificence has to be seen to be believed (and we're from Australia) and whose cities, all accessible in easy day trips, hold a plethora of artistic and historical treasures.

Palomba is all it is advertIsed to be and more. During our stay, I was shown other accommodation around the area by an Italian friend who probably (and kindly) thought my accommodation was a bit too 'rural'. Perhaps what I saw was a bit more 'sophisticated' but for me, it just couldn't compare. I returned home relieved to Palomba where I had all I was looking for and more, happy that my initial decision to choose Palomba had been the right one. Life with Kirsty, John, Alessio and their menagerie gave us a taste of the daily rhythms of life as it can be in Italy ... and what a good life it is!
