Tucked up in the trees in a quiet area, Hakala Hills Retreat is a great location for a relaxing stay. Located just a few miles out of downtown Traverse City, you will find yourself close to everything. This lovely four-bedroom, two-bathroom cabin welcomes up to 10 guests.

The open-concept kitchen gives way to the dining and living room area, and is a great place to cook, eat, watch TV, or snuggle up in front of the fireplace. There is one bedroom on the main level, one in the basement, and two upstairs.

The deck off the living/dining area is set up for you to grill and relax in a peaceful, wooded setting. In the yard you will find a fire pit, ready for roasting marshmallows.

This area is a quick drive west to the downtown area of Traverse City, head north and east to Williamsburg, Elk Rapids, and beyond. Turtle Creek Casino is an easy trip from here. East Grand Traverse Bay and the state park are just minutes away, with several public beaches to choose from. There are plenty of food options close to you, as well as shopping and much more! The home is just 7 miles from the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival.

Review of visit

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Moderate It was very cold when we arrived. There is no fence or steps at the right side of the deck which id=s more than 2 ft. Above ground. The steps up to the front door have a part of the building jutting out almost half way across narrow steps. The pots and pan cupboards were junked anyhow. And there was no shortage of dust. Even the only key had a key ring that simply fell off

Cozy cabin

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was a perfect stop for my family to fit comfortably for the weekend. Beds were big, bathrooms were clean, and kitchen had items needed. Smaller entertaining area for family but was manageable.

Perfect Location

We had a group family fishing trip in Traverse City with 6 men. The house was perfectly located close to the marina and anything we wanted to do in the evenings in Traverse City. The grill was great, the fire pit was awesome, and the kitchen and bathrooms were clean and tidy. It was a huge plus that there were enough comfortable beds for all of us. We loved our stay!

Not for the Young at Heart

This is a beautiful rustic log cabin style home (not real log cabin). It’s perfect for young families but was not well suited for older guests. We brought my parents (80+ age). The entrance to this home is from below-grade, you have to take a full flight of stairs outside to get to the front door entrance. The outside stairs have a railing on one side but are open on the other side making it more accident prone. The property managers were very kind and suggested I enter through the outside door and then open garage door for my parents to enter more safely from basement. However they still had to walk a full flight of stairs every time they entered or exited the home. The wood stairs also have a lip on them which my Mom caught the back of her shoe on and fortunately I was behind her to assist. Again, a beautiful home I just think it needs to be clearer for other guests that it’s a lot of stairs.
